Albion academy in Surrey

And I personally think you'll always pick up hungrier young kids in South London rather than Sussex, purely because of the social dynamics.

Thats a view from watching only fools and horses and reading the mail. Reality is that house prices, job prospects and education are far higher in south london than placeslike newhaven, hastings, whitehawk, or even a hailsham or burgess hill. Sure lewes will be better than say peckham (Although peckham is apparently the new shoreditch) but lewes is not even close to putney for house prices or standard of living.

Yes but they've done it now though haven't they, what with two years worth of Sky cash plus loads more parachuting in next year. Surely?

Perhaps in the real world, it's not as simple as having a sugar daddy click his fingers and make it all happen.

Taking lessons from BHAFC on prudent investment on infrastructure. *chuckle*

Either you want a cat 1 academy or you don't. If you did then financially the summer was the perfect time to get one. If it was because your training ground was too small, then I ask again, why did you buy it last summer?

you don't need a sugar daddy, you've got £150m worth of TV money to sort out some minor infrastructure problems. Make it so number two........

What an odd thing to chuckle at.

BHAFC have probably done much more than most with their forward thinking investment in club infrastructure.

Minor as in pointless technicalities, not necessarily cheap or worthwhile fixes.

And again, you're living in a world where £200m lands from nowhere, and can be spent on whatever you want - and even then BHAFC managed to land themselves in the shit.

Perhaps it would be more prudent for BHAFC and its fans to design a club model that can actually achieve PL status (rather than merely promise to) before sermonising about how a PL club should be run.

They are welcome. They'll pick up the best youngsters, pay to train them up, then give them back to us for free at the age of 18, when their progression is blocked by 382 African imports.

My cousins little boy has been on chelsea's book for years... they come and collect him from Burgess Hill twice a week for training etc. The family also get paid a decent fee monthly fee... hes about 11 now i think

We'll have to take your typically simplistic economic breakdown as gospel Andy. Either way, again in the real world, securing sites for training grounds etc is far more difficult than at the foot of Tony Bloom's rainbow (although many seem to forget the years of planning permission and so on). Regardless, there was talk a few months ago of a site being secured

http://www.cpfc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=254473&highlight=Training+ground

I believe the Beckenham site was bought opportunistically because the landlord was about to vacate the site or something, rather than it being seen as a long term solution.

So let's get this straight, you've banked a shed load of money from gaining promotion to the PL, but don't believe that a small proportion of it should be allocated to getting your academy the category one status which will help fend off approaches for your best talent from teams who have invested.

And you chuckle at what we are trying to do.

Still it is probably part of the fab fours master plan to save every penny to get the proposed new stadium at Crystal Palace Park up and running.

I've said nothing of the sort. CPFC has invested millions into the academy for a number of years. This category 1 noñsrnse has created a number of logistical issues which may or may not be worth tackling at this time. You speak as though CPFC don't have an academy, but we have a very successful one. There are increased running costs in the PL and a stadium in need of renovation.

Again, even with a freebie bonanza from your sugar daddy pimp, your club has tied itself in knots, so perhaps it's time for the back of a fag packet economics sermonising to be put to bed.

So your freebie Sky money bonanza has gone where exactly? Surely you can see that it makes sense to invest your vast new found wealth in improving the nuts and bolts of the club- unless you count some cladding and a new fence around the garden of Rememberance.

Money is there don't worry , the re devolpment will happen in time a lot quicker if we get taken over . Now tony has voted for you to make more losses you can spend a lot more on your super academy . Btw the new fence was paid for and erected by a palace fan so we saved abit there as well

As in, thrown a shit load of money at it, and watched the behemoth spiral out of control?
The academy has only been open since the summer. The 'behemoth' infrastructure is hardly 'spiralling out of control', no matter how much some Palace fans may wish it would.
