I'm in need of a cash injection,so I'll release the results from two exploratory wells I've dug, with absolutely no proof of any connection between the two.If I say there's the possibility of an enormous field I should get the cash I need,if I can find somebody gullible enough. The only way they can deliver any oil that happens to be there is by fracking-thought your lot didn't like that.:lolol:

Who are 'My lot'??
So, oil exploration is another one of your many talents, is it?

I had a conversation like this recently with a colleague of mine and his response was something like this public policy bolg he does here: http://www.southampton.ac.uk/publicpolicy/what-we-do/blogs/viewsoneurope/voe40-werner.page

"The conclusion is unambiguous: it makes no difference to economic growth. Economic growth is almost entirely determined by factors and policies that are decided at home (namely the amount of bank credit created for productive purposes - sadly very small in the UK in recent decades, thus much greater economic growth is possible as soon as steps are taken to boost it). Remember that a smaller economy like Norway fared extremely well after its people rejected EU membership in a referendum in 1995 - against the dire warnings and threats from its cross-party elites and the united chorus of the heads of international organisations. Besides, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China never needed EU membership to move from developing country status to top industrialised nations within decades."

Now I don't know the author very well but he doesn't strike me as a narrow minded, ill-educated racist. Of course, other views are available.

Not sure how useful it is to compare growth in developing countries over past decades to become developed, to growth in a developed country in the coming ones, or to Norway as a non EU member as it is in the EEA. He goes on to suggest we could do that, and at the time of his blog post, it was a possibility, but it doesn't look likely now.
I would be reasonably content if we end up much like Norway in relations with the EU, but it seems that would not be out enough for the more ardent leave supporters.

Why double standards? They have already had a referendum on independence quite recently,if I remember rightly, and voted quite clearly to stay in the Union.Do you want the EU-type referendums in this country-keep voting till you get the answer you want?

But one of the reasons for voting to remain in the UK, was it included membership of the EU, which an independent Scotland could not guarantee. Now, the situation is very different, and an independent Scotland is the best chance for Scots to be EU citizens.

Well. I suppose that there are those that have opinions on both sides, right and wrong, opinions no less.
Much has been said lately that the Leave voters did not know what they were voting for..... and more disrespectful views have been aired, about their views.
So the Remain supporters gathered to protest, fair enough, obviously they knew what and why they were at the rally..........or do they.

Simple bit of editing, and all EU supporters seem ignorant.

Not the way it is with people I know.

Single standards, double standards whatever. If their government decide they want to have a second referenda it should be up to them.

It will be interesting to see how the EU uses this situation though.

Good morning everyone - and what a frabjous joyful morning it is too! After nine months of holding our breath - waiting to see if the political elite, the Westminster warriors, the champagne socialists and fellow travellers such as the Lib Dems and Greens would find a way of weaselling out of the democratic decision to leave the EU - today's the day it's happening. We're leaving! Hallelujah!
Watching the sun come up on this wonderful morning, oh boy, the world feels good!

It's INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Slack front page by the Guardian on a historical day in Little Britain's short life. The jigsaw map with the Britain piece missing and the EU countries remaining is factually incorrect. Norway, Switzerland, Faroe Islands and Gibraltar should be missing. Albania and Bosnia Hrzegovinia would be in a latter year's edition.

Who celebrates before you know what a deal is? Yay I'm going to be poorer. Will be some proper special cases about today.

It's like celebrating your divorce before you enter the courtroom...

It would be the job of private (hopefully British) companies, wouldn't it? Scotland just collects the taxes. Either way, it's bloody good news.

Nah, wee Jimmy would start up a nationalised McOil Company to do it, because the SNP are BRILLIANT at organising and financing things.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! Just not your day, is it?

The best strategy for a united Great Britain, for a positive future, to heal divisions in our lives after the EU is clearly to gloat. Well done you, I'm sure this is the best way to put the Great back.

There won't be a deal.

The EU won't agree anything before the next UK election - as they'll see this as a realistic point for the UK to re-assess the situation.

Which means May will have to either negotiate past this ( if she is still PM and also not in a coalition ), or leave before the UK election without a deal in place.
