Hostile environment in the ground with a lot of noise generated, nice as pie outside the ground (my experience).

I'm still appalled that someone threw a bananna at him during that game, thankfully times have changed. I want West Brom to stay up but I'm desperate for a certain of their forwards, (who felt he needed to cover his mouth when making supposedly innocuous comments) to go down.

I bumped into him in a hotel many years ago. A lovely guy who took an interest when I mentioned I was an Albion fan and spent time talking to me about Brighton, that game and all the other stuff which was going on.

Baird and Moore both getting sent off for (real) fighting in the final match at the Goldstone (v Donny) was a good deal for us, allowing mark moriss to head against the bar then Storrerrrrrrrrr!

as i recall it, Moore was a bit a man mountian that we were not going to get anything past him. altercation occured and Baird was happy to let it esclate, took one for the team.
Then drink in one of the abundance of pubs in central Birmingham and get to the ground for kick off

Moore wins Manager of the Month as West Brom relegated.
What a dreadful series of decisions at West Brom. The Berainho (who?) saga, series of poor managerial appointments, none more so than sacking a survival specialist and bringing in Pardew who has clearly been a huge factor in their relegation. Oh well.

That banana throwing episode at the Goldstone was one of the most shameful things I ever saw. The bloke was just doing his job, got into an altercation with our team thug, Ian Baird and then had bananas thrown at him about a decade and a half after that sort of disgrace had been kicked out of the game.
Maybe this is with hindsight because as it turns out, Moore is an absolute gent and one of football's good guys. But even if he'd been a bit of a twunt like, say, Paul Ince, it was still totally unacceptable.
Can you imagine if that happened now? Not only would the stewards frog march out the tosser in the crowd, but the rest of the crowd would cheer as it happened and then he'd get a life ban.

They'd then have to adopt an online pseudonym and post veiled opinion without ever going to a game again.
It all started a bit earlier that that - there was the Odemwingie saga first.
One thing that does make West Brom stand out is that the men in suits got chopped too. We constantly see directors and chairpeople make appalling decisions, with no consequences for them. That didn't happen in WBA's case.
And let's be grateful that they actually employed him in the first place!
As well as talking in monosyllabic riddles and pointing out which grotty pub the opposing team's firm were drinking in that day, sort of like the thuggish alternative to remembering the exact attendance for given games.
