The alternative to a monarchy is playing out its self-obsessed soap opera in front of our very eyes and yet many still think a member of the political elite would serve better as our titular head. At least there is an element of transparency about our Royal Family, warts and all. Still, I suppose if 15,864,555 people decided they wanted to be controlled by corrupt, self-serving, faceless bureaucrats, drawing vast salaries and expenses, manipulating trade deals and denying global freedom of movement, hell-bent on a European super-state and prepared to destroy smaller countries in the process, then abolishing our monarchy may seem the right way forward.
p.s whoever made this puerile comment shouldn't be holding any position of authority. They are clearly very very immature.

This is clearly false . She commented on a post which described Prince George in those terms. She did not use that description herself, instead calling him an example of 'white privilege' who will never know any problems and suggesting that they find pictures of Syrian refugees of the same age and see if they look alike. You clearly do know the difference between starting a post and commenting on one, since you are using a forum.

It costs 56p per person per year. If we were a republic, it would probably cost more.

The Queen & Prince Philip are the only recipients of the Sovereign Grant. This is taken from money donated TO the treasury by the Crown Estates.
The Queen receives 15% of the income from the Crown Estates. The remaining 85% goes to the Treasury.

He is just a little boy. I was amazed when I saw the pictures that they managed to make a three year old look posh. When my daughter was three she looked smart for exactly three seconds after that looked like a complete shambles no matter how hard I tried. They have my respect for that alone.
