I think they are pretty good, though judging from my facebook feed they seem to appeal to over 35's who aren't Fall obsessives like myself. I'm not sure they are deserving of the immense praise being heaped on them at the moment and you are right about the McClusky/ Future of The Left comparison, I'm sure the Idles boys would admit to it themselves.

One thing I will say is it seems fairly obvious to me that punk bands that make Radio 6 Music's A playlist seem to do really well (Slaves & Idles being the recent examples - I think Slaves are awful by the way I'm not lumping Idles in with that.) You don't have to dig too far to find really good punk bands in the UK so why aren't 6 Music playlisting more of them? All that stuff seems to be hidden away on the non-primetime shows.

More in the mainstream, giving Weller's new one a spin this afternoon.

Really enjoying it, the 'Bowie' dirge notwithstanding. Pleasant and gentle, not too far from the Jawbone OST.

Agree, really like it. I love PW when he's in his quieter acoustic reflective phases. Monday, Tales From the Riverbank, Wildwood.

Quite understated this one, just finished the first play of Cat Power's latest, including a nice sing-song with Lana del Rey.

Love it, recommended.

Hi Darren

We Chose The Wilderness is brilliant, really powerful and much bolder than your previous albums. I love Undersong very much, has hints of Joy Division (one of my favorite bands).
I had a bit of a Damselfy evening in my kitchen last night, played all 3 albums whilst doing the week's washing up .... I know how to live :O

I’ve just been (repeatedly) listening to Kompakt Records Total 18 sampler, as I do every year. Possibly the worlds best electronic label....and definitely the only thing me and Buzzer can agree on. It ends with ten minutes of blissful, sublime and hypnotic music from Ghost Vision. Further investigation reveals this is Brighton’s very own Thomas Gandy , some of you might remember him as Cagedbaby. He now lives between Berlin and Bordeaux though.

It’s called Zuul Passage, go listen.

Always had a soft spot for these guys. One of my favourite days was going to a lunch time Laibach lecture at the Southbank, then off to Upton Park to see us get smashed 6-0, then onto Le Gavroche (we were celebrating something) to meet the wife for dinner, then onto the Tate to see Laibach. Everything I enjoy in life in one single day.

Oh I see the music press has done that 'oops we've missed this act that's done some amazing stuff, best give the new one on a higher profile label amazing reviews to make up for it' thing with Marie Davidson.

I may change my mind but as good as this one is, albums two and three are probably better.

Props to Pitchfork to be fair who gave 'Adieux Au Dancefloor' a slight better rating than this one (8.0 vs 7.8)
