First saw smiler Bob and the boys at Manchester Poly in 1980, since then have seen them about a dozen times and have all the albums. Never been the same since 'Pornography' in my view, though 'Disintegration' had its moments. Last couple of albums very shoddy

Just Like Heaven

"Show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream" she said
"The one that makes me laugh" she said
And threw her arms around my neck
"Show me how you do it and I promise you
I promise that I'll run away with you
I'll run away with you"

Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face and kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways I had
To make her glow
"Why are you so far away?" she said
"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you?
That I'm in love with you?"

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You're just like a dream...

Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone
Alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Just like heaven

Far superior to Echo & The Bastard Bunnymen, but, well, no.

So stuff the Killing Joke etc is your cup 'o tea. I'm gathering you're around 38-40 ish, and the Dead Kennedys were as good as everyone says nowadays? Being only a young whippersnapper, I haven't the foggiest ;)

36 as it happens. But you'd never believe it to look at me......

The Dead Kennedys were pretty mediocre in my book, but they were a decent live act.

I saw the Cure on a few occasions too, but they never really impressed. All the girls seemed to like them though. Must've been a make-up thing.

The Cure - some fair singles, but on balance, no.

A Night Like This

Say goodbye on a night like this
If it's the last thing we ever do
You never looked as lost as this
Sometimes it doesn't even look like you
It goes dark
It goes darker still
Please stay
But I watch you like I'm made of stone
As you walk away...

I'm coming to find you if it takes me all night
A witch hunt for another girl
For always and ever is always for you
Your trust
The most gorgeously stupid thing I ever cut in the world

Say hello on a day like today
Say it everytime you move
The way that you look at me now
Makes me wish I was you
It goes deep
It goes deeper still
This touch
And the smile and the shake of your head...

I'm coming to find you if it takes me all night
Can't stand here like this anymore
For always and ever is always for you
I want it to be perfect
Like before...
I want to change it all

I want to change

Wonderful.
