Update on mudguard clearance SB.

I've never really managed to fit them zefal shield clip ons to complete satisfaction. In fact the front has been off all year as it would just never sit right and too much of a bump would cause it to rub.

Knowing you have the same mudguards and was surprised I wouldn't get 25's on, I've had another play with the rear and refitted the front. After literally several hours of fannying around I think I now have them both set up how they're probably meant to work, and you're right, I think 25's might squeeze in there now. If they stay where they are after a week or so of riding then the hunt for some 25's in time for Winter can commence

Chapeau on your 200. I'm just about getting up to half that and I'm happy with that at the mo considering I seriously lost my mojo for a long time, and I'm starting back in my least favourite season.

One thing I have noticed since coming back to club rides is that the pace seems to have upped, as has the quality of bikes people are riding. I've seen some serious bike porn just on run of the mill club runs. I'm not the only one to have noticed this and as someone said to me the other day, it's almost like an arm's race :lol:

Yesterday it was reassuring to see at least one pro changing down a gear, going up Ranmore Common. (B*****d climb)

Having seen the pros do the Ranmore climb and Whitedown descent yesterday, I thought I would build them into my commute this morning. It appears the climb is not as easy as it looked and the descent was frankly impossible! (Whitedown Lane is closed for 16 weeks from 31/7/17 due to water main replacement. Obviously I ignored the sign, but it's impassable so I had the benefit of a U turn.)

I would have set a Strava record time

the last time I went up Ranmore, but for one drawback they don't train us for in the professional peloton.
I happen to catch up to one of the female of the species who had unfeasibly large breasticles.

There's me all red faced, huffing, puffing, panting, unable to breath, and it was ok.
She didn't look at me with derision or pity or even call me a filthy creep. :thumbsup:

I managed to bite my lip with [MENTION=6886]Bozza[/MENTION]'s post yesterday, but come on.
This lad has stood at the side of the road, for free.
He's watched some of the very best professionals in the sport.
He might even have swiped some free stuff.
Then ends the day riding alongside one of them.

Pleased to finally crack 100 miles for the week. Admittedly 60% was on the MTB over the SDW etc - but had a lovely 40 miler yesterday out towards Waldron & Laughton as the kids football games were cancelled at the last minute. Love just getting out in the lanes and spinning the legs after a tough week riding off road

I think I must have popped another couple of ribs again. Had a laugh-it-off low speed tumble week before last and went to bed with a pain under my arm which had gone when I woke up but on yesterday's ride it hurt to try and inhale fully. Definitely musculo-skeletal but possibly going take a little while to mend.

Granted they weren't the "big names" of the team, but Owain Doull is a bloomin' MBE and Olympic gold medallist for a start. Yet, with big smiles on their faces they'd chat to anyone, but particularly the kids. Owain told my son his (Star Wars) t-shirt was really cool before copying Ben's thumbs up pose for the photo. Others gave what seemed to be a really genuine "Thanks for coming out to see us - have a really great day."

As you've guessed this is the aspect of pro cycling I'm pretty much evangelical about, because we all have similar stories about encountering pros.
On more than one occasion I've lost Jnr in a throng of people only to see him reappear high fiving riders as they exit their bus.

The funniest was someone who came on here to moan about the start of a race ruining his Spanish holiday.
To 'prove' his point he posted photos taken stood in the middle of the riders, a few minutes before the start of the race.
I think he was mingling with at least 2 Tour de France winners.

Watching the Tour of Utah last night, & seeing the Caja Rural team up front, got me thinking...

What classic kit would you like to see return to the peleton if you had the choice? Often wondered why more companies dont get back into it these days as the sport is so popular.

Personally, I'd love to see these 3 back on the roads. Im very much a late 80s / early 90's era fan, but who would you like to see out there again?

I've got a Z jersey, due to Philippa York, making my answer here pretty clear.

Although that said, I've always wanted to like any one of the Garmin kits, but I've just never quite been able to commit.

I wore my Z jersey constantly as a kid so I bought one about 5 years ago. Not sure if the site is still running but they also did la vie clare and a few other remade classics.

If you are the Santini stuff comes up small, so size over not under.
Oh and as is customary in the annual mention of Prendas, their own brand cotton caps are (well 'were' as I've not needed to buy one for a while) excellent and great VFM.

Top tip.

Resist the temptation to look at a helicopter flying low overhead.

On the plus side, I'm in the market for new shorts and sunday best T and I might be easy to spot if in shorts and T and the game today. On the FFS side, landing on the side not fully fit ain't great and neither is the sound of helmet on bank so I'm expecting a stiff neck tomorrow morning. Nettles and thorns. Standard.
