The only person who has used the word "twats" is me. And as I CLEARLY state in that post, that was aimed at hollering and whooping at a presentation for a bang ordinary piece of technology that is completely devoid of excitement and in no way a game changer.

So given that this basic grasp of English appears beyond you, I think a have "the right word" for you - and that word is "simpleton".

That's because we don't tend to shout about how AMAZING and LIFE CHANGING our products are. I do sometimes get excited when new products come out but I have no desire to tell EVERYONE else about them, so there's no real opportunity for you to "shout me down".

I think for those geeky nerds among us who follow this type of thing, it is exciting and we want others to see why. It's like trying to convince people to like a new band you love... (except the band is a big, evil corporation with horrible intentions.. but we'll ignore that part)

When the first iPhone came out, I was the only one of my mates who gave a shit, now, we're all sitting round the table talking about operating system update cycles. So much has changed in the world of technology over the past few years because of these apparently small changes (like Apple Pay). Overall, the more people into this stuff now will mean a faster growing technology for the rest of us.

The history of Apple is a lot more interesting than that. Is your comment post iMac, iPod or iPhone era for Apple? Pretty sure it can't be pre-iMac as the company was in danger of going under. Post iMac sales boomed but market share was still low. Was the iPod the real fan-boy era you're speaking of, or the first iPhone? They did once try to sell a fart in a jar with an apple logo on it – it was called the Newton and no one bought it.

I'm very much a geeky nerd, I've even got a computer science degree! I'm informed enough to make my own decisions on what technology I buy or subscribe to, rather than just going along with whatever the Apple LORD tells me.

This is probably one of the best pro-Apple posts I've read, despite the picture at the bottom.

To an extent, I have to agree that companies like Apple have brought geeky tech into the mainstream far more than it ever was previously, much in the same way that the film industry has levered comic culture out of its niche. Long may it continue (for both tech and comics ideally, I am who I am!)

I will take slight issue with the implication that by not particularly caring about Apple Pay (not because it's Apple, I just don't see the point/clear benefit to me yet) I'm not allowed to be a geeky nerd, we've never been a particularly unwelcoming section of society so let's not put up boundaries now...

The way you describe Apple users is exactly why others think of them as twats. I'm typing this on my iPad2, and I use a work issues iPhone5, but they are just bits of (perfectly good) technology - I don't feel I've 'bought into the Apple World' like I've joined some kind of cult.

It's that kind of thinking that allows them to feel it's okay to automatically load annoying apps that I don't want or need ( Apple watch recently, no doubt Apple music and Apple money to follow) and to block up my Twitter feed with reams of absolute shit from an '@macworld' account that I've never followed.

I was responding to the fact that Pay "will be huge for London as TFL have enabled the Oyster system" and the statement that this is "Super exciting".

(I've never lost a phone or had one stolen....)

Fair enough. I don't think any of the actual using of these things is particularly exciting in isolation. What I think is exciting is the fact that the industry is advancing. It's advancing because companies like Apple (and many others for that matter) make products which change people's behaviour, habits and expectations. Without them we'd be stuck in a world where you couldn't send your heartbeat to your partner using your apple watch. And who wants to live in a world like that eh?

Your posts in this thread are becoming increasingly schizophrenic and, with the none to subtle change in profile picture, I'm beginning to suspect that Jobs has somehow learnt to become more powerful than previously anticipated.

They all start so sensibly, followed by a finish that's either so tongue in cheek you'll poke a hole through it OR is actually completely serious, which would be worrying and, possibly, further proof of influences from the great beyond.

bless, you think Apple invented the smart phone and without them we wouldnt have them everywhere, with OS updates to fuss over. Other than itunes, i dont beleive there is a single product Apple has produced that was new or a technical revolution, they are masters of design, not invention.
