[Albion] £2m bid rejected by Sunderland for Paddy McNair

I would have LOVED to sign Fredericks!

Me too, l've liked him for two or three years, too late now though, Fulham have joined us in the Premier League, his price would have escalated, and he seems to be off to pastures new anyway.

I can only think that he isn't defensively minded enough for Hughton, (although Schelotto isn't either!).

This from the Thomas Delaney thread which is obviously going no further (probably)

No reason to conclude that he is our only target.

Paddy McNair joined SAFC from ManU for circa £5.5m including another player.

He, as I understand suffered ACL injury which limited his appearances more than somewhat. He returned to the SAFC team towards the end of season past and, as an attacking MF scored something like 5 in 6 so highly regarded up there.

I would certainly not be concerned about the club signing him as, of course, any transfer would be subject to the Albion's stringent medical.

I believe we would reasonably have to offer no less than £4.5m to acquire this 23 year old who shows very considerable promise !

I thought it might of been Fulham with Fredrick's likely to go to sham.

Sunderland have turned down a second bid from Brighton for midfielder Paddy McNair - this time for £3.5m. Further to this we’re told Sunderland have also turned down a bid of £3.75m for McNair - this time from an unnamed London club.

Keith can you just clarify these are bids for players and not a new takeover bid for the club?

Nice to see Sunderland sticking to their guns and demanding more instead of being desperate for the cash like before. The joys of being debt free at last, I suppose.

Based on what the Sunderland fans have heard, it's Fulham. Makes sense as Fredericks is off so they need a replacement.

More than likely be Fulham rather than Arsenal I’d have thought

Actually boys the real point is this....a few years ago our board was full of this delusional nonsense...the mythical figures, the over-inflated prices...Zamora, Virgo, even ffs Murray.

Reality is that PL clubs are rich...beyond the dreams of avarice, and...if you're languishing in the third, with debt, with players who want a future...you'll take it.. You'll take the dough.

Its a measure of just how far we've come. We're finally the big boys in the playground who can hive off the best players from the lower leagues, develop them and give them, us, and the lower league club a chance.

Fed up with trains. Sick of the rain.
Hope we can make this happen. I believe the lad offers genuine quality and versatility for a relatively low fee and Chris Hughton would bring out the best in him.

Sunderland are however in a completely different situation. Debt free with parachute payments in league one.

They will hold out for the best price.
