Incredible this appears to be a left v right argument, a free market versus state control and socialism.

The tax rates in this country especially for businesses are some of the lowest in the world - but still it isn't enough.

All these businesses use the roads, their staff treated by the NHS without them having to pay a penny for their healthcare.

This isn't the 1970s.

I'm not sure who you're targeting with this post, but I'm certainly not saying anything is right or wrong. I'm merely saying that I believe most people will take tax efficiencies wherever they are available, yet they'll sneer at those who do likewise.

good point. maybe they should pay taxes to the local authority to pay for the roads and other services, and pay something directly for the NHS?

Many (not all) of these supposed tax dodgers pay accountants and financial advisors to invest their money to the greatest advantage and probably don’t even know where it is. Whereas if we pay a tradesperson cash in hand, we know exactly what we’re doing.

But because tax fraud by (some) builders is only in the thousands or tens of thousands, some think it shouldn't be targeted. The 'moral' rational being, with celebs and multinationals the sums avoided are greater and that HMRC have hitherto cozied up to the latter.

Eye watering isn't it.
'Great Britain is the hub of the tax avoiding empire'.
I think we have been lied to by The Conservatives when they said they will close all the loopholes and get the tax in, they have no intention of doing any such thing in fact they have made it easier,and yet they wanted to increase NI on the self employed.
It really makes my piss boil.

It makes you wonder how much power these companies and the super rich have, there must be much deeper reasons why they are allowed to get away with it, if we or any other country really wanted to stop it then they could, by making it illegal for starters.
With further investigation I would not be surprised if they have a hold over Government decisions in return for 'favours' to our bent politicians, but it will be so well hidden probably impossible to find.
I know they have done nothing wrong, but the point being is that it should be wrong and we were told they would stop it.
I hope this is the start of further deep investigation and they unearth corruption at the highest level.

All of the rich and powerful are doing it including much of our political establishment and more importantly their donors. It's capitalism at its finest and won't change until the majority refuse to put up with it anymore. Unfortunately we are all far too distracted by the new iPhone and Strictly Come Dancing episode to realise we are being ****ed.

And being self employed you pay 3% less in NI than the employed and don’t pay the employer’s NI - this system costs the revenue close to £2 billion a year - being self employed is often no more than a tax avoidance scheme.

its simply because the company holdings are held in other countries, i.e. Cayman, Bermuda etc. do you want these countries taken over so that their tax laws can be dictacted by UK or where ever? the issue here is that some companies may, or may not, avoid some corporation tax. when the beneficiaries of the funds sell and bring the money back, they get taxed anyway.
