I think it's great having 2 league clubs in Sussex. Maybe there will be more one day.

Just awful.

Called off at 1820.

At least the away team and fans only travelled from Merseyside this time.

Sooner this outfit regain their non league status the better.

Why so late? They're a joke, a laughing stock, and deserve to go down. Absolutely pathetic.

Yet again the fans suffer. Why could a local referee not be called in at say 3 pm to make a decision? Yes, it rained in Crawley this afternoon, but perhaps if they paid for some work to be done on the pitch, and for a decent ground staff team instead of overspending on players, this wouldn't have happened.

Why so late? You need to ask the ref that. 2nd ref in 4 days that decide that with a little time / work that game can be played. Then they call it off. If it's unplayable, why not call it off immediately ?

Rubbish.

On both occasions the pitch was never going to be ready.
We are a laughing stock I'm sorry too say.

Was a local ref called in during the afternoon?

The Football League must be able to do something about it. Once is bad enough, twice is a joke but three times? You don't even get it at County League level

To be fair, some county league teams have hardly played since Christmas.

However they are not spending huge amounts on players and playing in the third tier of English football.

16/1 for relegation, given their huge backlog and possibility of more games being postponed got to be worth a pony?

Crawley offered to play the game tomorrow night, yet Tranmere refused - wonder what their reason for that is.

As a Tranmere fan I can answer that

The club felt that if Crawley could guarantee the pitch would survive they would have however when they looked at the pitch there was 5 areas not ready and it was never going to be fit to play on.

Personally I think it was disgraceful that they decided they did not need a pitch inspection as the pitch clearly is not right

Have a look at this picture of our player Ash Taylor on Twitter

Says it all really

It was ref's call, local ref they got to inspect yesterday gave it the ok, match ref turned up and wasn't happy with soft patch in one of the penalty areas. Hardly Crawley's fault, they've had 6 off in 6 weeks, no more tinpot than we were at Withdean.

Good point - how many games were lost to rain at Withdean, particularly in the first season there? Did the Council ever pay us for all the drainage improvements made?

As an athletics track, the main use of the pitch area at Withdean was to absorb the impact of javelins. And athletics is a summer sport. There was no real point in having it well drained.
