Good tactics to play a generally boring 120 minutes in order to get to penalties, only to lose via them. A genius at work.

Yup. I thought people went OTT in claiming Van Gaal as a tactical genius for bringing Krul on in the previous leg. In the end, Holland are out not so much because their penalties weren't up for it, but because they didn't want it enough in the 120 minutes.
