What about Rogic's winner though?

Ryan didn't have a lot to do but couldn't do much about either goal. Showed some sweet distribution.

OK. Just had a chat with Matt, and it's a definite - maybe. Wouldn't let me take a photo in a #together scarf, but interested in talking about the club. Seemed pleased to hear how many Seagulls Downunder members there are!

He reiterated he is currently signed with Valencia, but acknowledged the rumours that he is talking to us.

Distribution is definitely his strongest suit so may fit in well.$

It’s been slim pickings for Australians ...................................Ryan will become Brighton’s third summer signing after manager Chris Houghton tied up deals for Germany’s Pascal Gross and Celtic defender Josh Kerr.

Josh Kerr? Sorry if I've missed something, but haven't seen this before. Have we?

The two goals Ryan conceded overnight (and the third where he literally matrix-ed his way out of a goal-bound shot that was ruled out for offside) are a good indication of his ability as a shot-stopper: he essentially never stops those kinds of goals. If you do sign him, get used to the phrases 'he couldn't do much about that' and 'it wasn't his fault' as you'll be hearing them a lot. Forget the phrase 'how did he get to that' you will not be requiring it.

To be fair on the kid, his positioning, decision-making and distribution are all very good and he rarely makes stupid mistakes. The problem is he has the reactions of a dead, cremated and buried sloth and no amount of game-time or training is going to fix that. He just doesn't have that twitch that makes a goalkeeper great and consistently struggles when he plays at a higher level (he didn't lose his spot in Valencia due to injury, he came back from that injury and was first choice for the first two games this season but got dropped when he let in four from four shots on target against a bottom half side). Check out our highlights from the 2014 world cup if you want to see what happens when he plays against higher quality opposition. Essentially he's a great keeper for second/third tier leagues and against crap Asian teams. The chance of him making an impact in the EPL are slim to none.

TBH, I kind of do hope you guys sign him, as being relegated to a bench spot might finally mean he gets dropped from our national team just in time for 2018 (if we make it there, which is far from assured at this point).

He won't be playing with that pathetic back three he had playing in front of him like last nights game.

Shit tactics and shit defenders did him in last night.

Are you Mitch Langerak's mum?

You don't win keeper of the year two years running in the Belgian league by being anything less than first class. Ryan is an outstanding keeper who was unprotected last night by Ange Postecoglou's idiotic 3 at the back system for which we don't have the players.

Also said hello to Ange last night. Decided to be polite rather than point out his "attacking" 3 4 3 really has seven defensive minded players (the second four are two holding midfielders and two wing backs) and yet somehow still can't stop attacks down the wings or through the middle.

Maybe he should get Hyppia in to help with playing tactics that don't suit the players. match made in heaven there I think.
