In which we were also forced to play a weakened side due to having a dozen players injured who would all have made the first team. The FA Cup game was pretty much the height of the worst injury crisis Palace have had in living memory. Roy described it as the worst he'd ever experienced in a 42 year managerial career.
In the starting XI we had a full back playing at left wing, a winger playing up front, a centre-back playing in midfield, and the semi-retired Damien Delaney starting at centre half.

But, let's be clear. Palace have been in the Premier League for, what, approximately ever and have spent considerable sums on playing talent as they aim to become not only Premier League stalwarts but European challengers.
We are plucky little lower league Brighton. Palace fans told us repeatedly what a shock we would have this year, and how much of a struggle it would be.
Yet, even after beating us on Saturday and, by their accounts, delivering some sort of footballing masterclass (a bit at odds with Roy Hodgson's "we did it the hard way" comments) they still sit below us in the Premier League table.
That has to be disappointing for a side with such lofty ambitions.

It was our reserve team in the cup game to........... I honestly think you're deluding yourself that you are better than you think, a very Palace trait. 2 things happened in that first half, none of which make you any less bang average than you've been all season.
1) for someone unknown reason (caused by Davy Propper suspension), Hughton for the first time (in our derby) decides to change from the 4-4-1-1 system to more of a 4-3-3 and there is no doubt that our midfield was being over run with the extra palace midfielder.
2) Mistakes - The first and second is normally saved, the 3rd was a good goal from a Palace perspective but far to simple - Schelotto was awful on the day, it was just as much due to bad defending on the day rather than you suddenly stop being piss poor and turn into world beaters as you allude.
Once we took Locadia off at HT (who was playing in midflield (out of position) and went back to a 4-4-1-1 with Gross further forward the second half was one way traffic. And we had enough good chances to get point.
Well done, you won, history records 3-2 to palace, but dont kid yourself that you were good, we changed formation and made schoolboy errors, the fact we got 2 in one of our worst 45 mins all season says a lot too.
You are the definition of a one man team, without Zaha you really have nothing and defensively look ropey.
I'm just glad that Stephens and Dunk avoided reds as both couldve on different days as could Milivojevic.
To be fair you can see Premier League Years in 10 years time on Sky Sports talking about how Palace would have won the League by February had it not been for their injury crisis given what a team of absolute WORLD BEATERS they have which a lot of other teams glare at admirably.

Are you kidding? a major injustice? no it wouldnt, the second half was more one sided than the first, you literally did nothing except punt it long and try to cling on and we had the clear cut chances but agent Murray fluffed his lines.

There is no doubting Zaha's ability so much so that it is being reported that CPFC will get £50m bids from Arsenal Spurs or Man City for him but like Dunk to us, his vale staying is greater than any transfer fee received. Without Zaha they are virtually guaranteed to be relegated.
Yes in the first half you were ,in the second it was rolls reversed ,without ZAHA you would be in deep poo as your record without him is very poor

History is written by the winners. So Zaha can say that Palace proved they were better than us and Tomkins that they showed they have learned not to concede late goals. But both points of view only stand up because FFS Murray failed to bury that late chance.
