Hmmmm Lewes is fog at 9pm ... Looks pretty dodgy

Parts of Lewes are ideal for fog though.

Low lying area in a bowl - check
surrounded by hills for colder air to katabatic winds to flow down - check
near a river as a source of moisture - check
clear night - radiative cooling of the ground and bingo.

Falmer is also in a low point, but I think the contours trend downwards towards Brighton, so you'd hope this form of fog wouldn't be so prevalent there.

Everything else I get, but I must admit I was surprised to see bingo listed as a contributory factor?

Live and learn.

Show off.

Excellent use of the word.

Shall we rename the Amex Ice Station Zebra?

Rape of Hastings, Sussex
There is now a Yellow weather warning for East Sussex tonight from 1800 until 1100 tomorrow:

Areas of freezing fog, some dense, are expected to form again during Tuesday evening and last into Wednesday morning. The fog will become more widespread through the night, with icy patches on untreated roads and paths an additional hazard.

Travelling conditions will be difficult with journeys likely to take longer than usual and delays to air travel are possible.

Stagnant air will remain across the area, allowing fog to form readily. Frost deposited by the fog will give surfaces an icy covering which may be thick enough to make roads and pavements slippery.

I've contributed to this thread, but I'm not good on the wild speculation side.

Met Office : Brighton And Hove Albion.

FOG indicated between 7 and 8, which then goes and comes back at 10.

So we could call it off at 7:30, and have a clear pitch from 8 onwards
