Good to know. If it was a marquee (I assumed it was in the house) then I wonder if they can utilise any land closer? There’s a lot of fields at Brighton uni. Maybe set up a craft beer tent as well?

Well that's clearly not true, is it? If you were 'simply wondering who these people were?', you might have typed something like "Who are the PEOPLE seated in..." as opposed to your more colourful description based on your prejudices...

This is the trend driven by fiscal-only objectives. Clear link to thread about dreadful atmosphere at Old Trafford.
Creeping growth of tourism and rubber-chicken corporate football at Falmer now too. Conversion of 7 Stars to 1901 East another example. Leads to more neutral and rich away fans.
A watering-down of the Community Stadium concept in my view.

Okay. I will take you at face value and believe you have no agenda. But this brings me back to my question yesterday. If you have no agenda why do you pepper your “simple” posts with all this additional context? It’s clearly not needed.

Wasn't the off-site hospitality added due to demand, so I assume match tickets had already been purchased and weren't then your 'normal' 1901 patrons?

I don’t have an issue with football tourism. I’ve done it myself. And I think it’s brilliant and very positive that people are prepared to come and visit the AMEX from far and wide. After all, Brighton’s chief industry is tourism. And I don’t believe it affects the atmosphere. I have said this many times but if you want an atmosphere you can create it, tourists (or all-seater stadia, modern football for that matter) are not stopping you.

I agree, and I can comment on this from a couple of aspects.
I live in Hong Kong and loved it when the U23s came here last summer. I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few Chinese folks wearing Albion colours. Naturally, curiosity got the better of me so I asked how they came to support Albion, given some of the more illustrious teams present. They all mentioned that they were studying locally in Brighton.
Secondly, my wife is Chinese and I took her to watch us against Wolves about 5 years ago (Vicente was playing, and I think we won 2-0). Yes, she was a tourist but it's worth remembering that there are likely a few instances like this, and just because you see someone that it foreign looking, it doesn't mean that they don't have an affiliation with the Albion.

Ha. My wife’s first Albion game also featured Vicente. He scored two goals and she took too much of an interest in him for my liking. She still mentions him from time to time and calls him by his nickname, “The Dagger” in a gravely Spanish accent.

I did offsite hospitality at Brentford (!) so I could get a ticket in promo year. Actually it was ok

Maybe, but it’s not corporate hospitality, it’s just hospitality.
Didn't realise you had to be a Tory to go to a corporate hospitality event.
And when the Chinese eventually take over the entire World, we'll all be happy that there are a load of them who support the Albion!
