Another support striker ?

Does this mean Baldock is more broken than we thought ?

I find that hard to believe even for Baldock's most rabid of fanboys.

But where is the space in the 25 unless Baldock fails to make it ?

We already have 21 + Top Striker + Main Midfielder + 9th defender + 3rd goalie as it stands without another Baldock.

I think you're being a tad paranoid about Baldock. Space could be made by shipping out Skalak, for instance.

Doubt Skalak or Murphy are going anywhere tbh. especially as the club made a point of highlighting Skalak at the PL publicity shoot.

I think if this happens, our attacking signings will be finished, we would have Murray, Hemed, Baldock, Brown, Gross and Lawrence all vying for the two positions of cf and acm. On top of that we have wingers Knockaert, March, Murphy and Skalak (who can also play no 10) plus Brown and Lawrence can play wide if need be.
I know the general concensus on here is we must get a proven premier league number 9, but they cost lots of money and command huge wages.

I'd be happy with those options, we do still need a central midfielder and unless were going to risk Sanchez as third choice keeper, we need to recruit a gk too. Do we really need a 9th Defender? If so i think he would have to be a young'un not because of the 25 man rule but because they already have two players ahead of them for each position.

I cant see us signing any others unless of course Hemed is sold or Goldson is loaned out.

Just been reading the Leicester forum, they all seem to rate Lawrence and most don't want to sell him. Hopefully there's something in this, but you can never tell if these stories are bullsh*t or agents trying to talk up their players.

Of course Lawrence could also be an upgrade on skalak...
I don't think Skalak is leaving, as he wouldn't have been prominent at all at the PL publicity shoot if he was. Hughton has already said that those who are going know they are.

Is there an argument for 'if he's not good enough for Leicester...is he good enough for us'? Could he,Brown & Gross all play in same team?

I suspect the people who are underwhelmed by this won't be happy unless we sign a striker who was regularly on Match of the Day last season. It doesn't have to be that way. Lawrence carried Ipswich last season. He is very highly rated around here and would, in my opinion, be an excellent signing.
We wouldn't have got anywhere near him if we hadn't been promoted.

Things change all time. WBA sent season ticket cards out with picture of old captain ( just sold)to all their fans...
"Every player has his price" of course.

But I look to the ones who have been kept out of the publicity - notably Ince and LuaLua - as the ones that'll be leaving. Those featured and focused on, not so much.

Agree with this. Investing in support for Murray and Hemed with Gross, Brown (who won't have come cheap, even as a loan) and this lad would seem far more sensible than adding that huge money striker. A new defensive midfield that will cost a few quid and free 3rd keeper and I reckon we're done.

Worrying that journalists like Alan Nixon rubbish our chances as we won't spend, are too cautious and Derby would outbid us..

Really need to make biggish signing or two ( fee wise) to show we are prepared to compete and can flex our financial muscles when needed...

I don't think the publicity shots will have any bearing on whether someone stays or goes. It's more related to an honest conversation between the player and the manager about what opportunities there will be and I can't see there being many for Skalak (but of course I could be wrong on this). Likewise with Hemed if we get a goalscoring, pacy number 9.

Wouldn't be unhappy with him signing but seems a lot of money for a squad player who probably won't start a lot of matches in the prem for us. Don't see him as much of an upgrade on what we have, though I haven't seen him play 30+ games like everyone else on here. Am not expecting any sort of household name but a couple more from abroad on similar fees to what we've already spent. If he comes he has my full support and I hope he proves a decent addition, we could certainly do with signing a few under 30's. I trust the club to get the right players in to give us a chance in staying up and find it reassuring that we are in safe hands and slowly building towards a bright future. (And not I'm just babbling!)
