Exactly what do people expect him to say. We're going up and we're going to spend big on mediocre players. Or, announce we're going to have x amount to spend so selling clubs will try and grab as much as possible.

I think he's just looking ahead, having a plan for promotion and a plan for staying in the Championship. Seems a sensible approach.

Having read the links, I can't see that he did. The thread title is misleading.
Having had the pleasure of hearing him speak at the Amex at a job leadership day he is a very clever man. He told us we came joint second last year.. also that day he explained how they have these two lists of players. He came across as quite humble and very honest person.

So, if we are to go into the Premiership, we won't need to spend a huge amount as Rugby players, and Scottish footballers don't cost as much in salaries or transfer fees as PREMIER LEAGUE players.
