Shootings at Pulse nightclub in Orlando

I'm not sure if many people are aware that there was a totally separate and unrelated fatal shooting after a concert only the night previously in Orlando, Florida only about four miles from the Pulse shooting. The victim was a 22 year old ex-contestant of The Voice who had just performed at the concert. Certainly nothing to suggest that this was Islam / ISIS related. If it hadn't been for the victim's brother tackling the gunman this incident could easily have also turned into a mass shooting / murder as the gunman was carrying two handguns and a hunting knife.

Nothing but nothing will convince Americans to outlaw guns.The more shootings like today,the more they like the rest of us get desensitised to them and the less shock value there is.Therefore nothing likely to change things.If they accept shootings like Sandy Hook where all those kids got shot then they will accept anything.

Occam's razor. The killer was a Muslim who identified with Islamic State. Homosexuality is considered an abomination in Islamic countries, punishable by death in many of them. The killer decided to take matters into his own hands. It's as simple as that.

That's because there's plenty of stories and footage out there of average citizens who were carrying either killing or seeing off would be threats/crims with their legal sidearms.

Those incidents get very little coverage but they happen a lot.

A few? There are thousands of cases where being armed has helped in the self defence of a registered gun owners property/safety.

You're not suggesting an individual shooting is considered a statistic for "mass murder" are you?

What happened in Orlando was mass murder. A gang banger getting shot in an alley is not a statistic for "mass murder".

The Orlando incident was the biggest mass murder in US history and had nothing to do with US gun laws and everything to do with fundamentalist Islam.
