There's a post by me on here somewhere from a few weeks ago that says something along the lines of 'every other position in the team has a more than capable backup, so I trust that goalkeeper is the same'.

That. [emoji106][emoji106]

He was OK today, but did Button need a thread? ???
Careful, I think some posters might get the needle with your comments.

I don’t understand how you can say “Matty” wouldn’t do certain things. No keeper holds onto everything! As for the coming out of the area, I think he gave a bloody great shout to his defenders and made a great call coming for it - very brave keeping in my opinion.

I thought the same and was right in line with it. He did it decisively and successfully.

Seemed a bit reactive and passive rather than being proactive, but if that's his style fine. Am sure everyone in the squad will know better than us as see him in training daily. Showed he's very much a back-up but that is exactly what we need.

Very happy with that and will take a couple more good performances and one big stinker if we then get Maty back. Let's watch and cheer him on while we do.

They didn’t go then.....

Probably watched Sky Sports.

He did fine, but there were probably six or seven who played better IMO.....

They singled him out on MOTD too, along with Locadia. He kept us in the match.

Three men of the match yesterday, Button, Propper and Bernardo. One needs a rest because he's really not on it at present, Gross. After the early spill I thought Button was excellent. Fantastic how a 2/3rd keeper can come in and perform so well. Hope it continues. I watched Sunderland Til I Die back to back the other night and didn't think Jason Steele was good enough. Glad we didn't start with him.

Something he did better than Maty was kick the ball. I am guessing the team have faith in him as some of the backpasses weren’t far off being shots on goal

I was nervous about Maty being away but am feeling better about it now. Phew!

Much better in fact.

The early back pass was a real tester.

As I saw it, after he dropped it and went to dive on it, Propper(?) kicked it out of his hands which created the following melee.

Yep, looked exactly like that on MoTD. It was Propper too. The spill could go down as an error but not what happened after.

Still more than made up for it with the subsequent saves anyway.
