Blimey, I would have been at two of those. Southend (whether home or away) and Barnsley at home. How the memory fades with age.
What about the Nigerian centre half we got on loan? Ifijiagua or something like that. Clean sheet on debut plus a flicked goal from a Ross Johnson long throw away at a wet Underhill in late October during the 98/99 season.
Also remember Simon Morgan slotting in really nicely on the opening day of the season away at Cambridge in a 0-0 draw.

Played in Russia for a little while a couple of years ago before signing for West Ham on a short term contract. Also managed to get a few appearances for Ivory Coast around this time. Was subsequently released by the Hammers and was signed as a free agent by Doncaster. Has now been released by them and is currently a free agent again.

Christ, that's got to be a lesson for any youngster with poor application.
Attendance: 7,400 - in a season we nearly went up.
