It's so funny that some people assume the worst. According to the local Charlton paper when I laws saw an article on Cousins, he wasn't top of our priority list in midfield and our interest had dropped.

He wouldn't have come here being content with being a back-up for our current centre pairing. If he had signed I and probably others would have taken it as a clear sign that Kayal was off.
