It's no surprise to see the two so-called 'massive' clubs topping the averages, but there are mitigating circumstances. Leeds play around half their away games within an 80 mile radius (11) and Wednesday aren't far behind (9) which makes travelling cheaper and more convenient.

Compare that with Brighton (only 4 and all over 50 miles away) and Boro (just the 1 and 72 miles away) and it can be argued that proportionally these two clubs have more of a fanatical hardcore away support than the 'sleeping giants'.

Had the game been priced normally how many fans would we have taken?

I think about 3000,I for one had pencilled it in before the cheap tickets were announced.

12000 fans paying full wack would have generated more income than 20000 cheap tickets.
That is not taking into account ST holders who I'm sure feel a bit aggrieved.

We have further to travel than 'Boro in overall distances, a whopping 382 miles average return trip.

Ok, I've used the FL's season average distance, so this wont be exactly right with 4 games to go, but here's the results:

Club Average Away Average Miles FanMiles
Leeds 2819 251 707569
Wednesday 2386 224 534464
Boro 2327 357 830739
Derby 2212 213 471156
Birmingham 1779 217 386043
Burnley 1630 294 479220
Brighton 1553 382 593246

It shows that 'Boro have the most fan miles (assuming they all travel from Teeside!), followed by Leeds and then Albion.

This officially proves we are a bigger club (in away loyalty terms) than Sheffield Wednesday :lolol::lolol:

Good work PG.

I didn't think it was possible to be a bigger club than Wednesday, they're massive, a sleeping giant as I said.

But they've been sleeping for quite a while now haven't they? A nice long lie in.

Why are some of fans obsessed with whether clubs are bigger than us?

It's getting a bit sad mate TBH.

Our figures are a bit lower than they should of been with with blackburn on a Saturday being postponed to a Tuesday and mk dons being moved to a Tuesday.

Ended up taking 3700 to blackburn and 2300 to mk dons. Both would of sold out or been close to a sell out, being our first visit to mk dons.

I still think it's an outlier looking at our away attendances.
If you remove it from the data then our average is 1250, if you remove the all the "day tripper" games it's 787.

And if you remove all the fans that actually went to our away games then our average is 0.... Zero..... Zilch.... F..uck all. Now that's piss poor for a club our size.

So do the same adjustments with all the others teams too then.
