went to Bolton on the "special" years back, they were mob handed as we left Bolton station on the way to the ground, came out of a pub near the ground if I remember, didn't see to many Bolton at the Goldstone for the return match which attracted a crowd of over 27k, any idea ???

We brought plenty to Brighton for your 1st home match in the 1st division I think, late 70's maybe.

After the game the police escorted us all over the place to get us back to Hove station without meeting up with any Brighton fans & when we got back to the station they stayed outside & left us to go onto the platform & onto our train. But.....our train was right next to a train full of Brighton fans & anything not nailed down was launched into each others trains & there was brawling on the platform......all while the police were stood outside thinking they'd done a great job. Happy days.

yep character building, Hove station was always lively with rival fans mingling on the platform

I used to move in the same social circle  as Barney. He's still around but doesn't go to football anymore.

He was having a bit of a row with a cockney red so we went down to a tiny square and closed the gates,we then formed a human boxing ring while they went hammer and tongs, confused the hell out the Italians who were tracking us prior to trying to storm our bar.:moo:

remember being outside Oldham station after the game when a van pulled up and a load of Brighton got out the back , the days when every body sat on a few chairs chucked in the back :D, worse one at Oldham was when BHA lad got thrown through the pub window after the game in town , Oldham lad called Spence had warned them that Oldham were on there way to the pub , serious injury Brighton lad never went to a game after that :(

Got to the ground early. Had pre match beers in their social club/ bar. Tony Book was there chatting away he'd come to watch Peter Ward. Who thankfully had a howler.

Did anyone record the Brighton v Palace game on a few days before?

Aye, if Bolton didn't have a game, we would often pop over to Bury to torment the locals, sometimes allied to the away fans & sometimes on our own.........but we were never with the Bury, City or utd lot who for some reason disliked us more than the away fans !! Happy days.

Just been reminded that a few Bolton lads joined up with us and then turned clumping my mate but a bosun lad with us whacked him with his broken arm, stopped of at the propeller to say hello to our friends up the road on the way home:rolleyes:

That's the place ,remember coming out of the ground with a bit of snow falling GD invited me and Mr Blackburn into town but we had to blow it out because of train connections, think there were some guests from Brum in tow as well

My nephew got three batterings by different groups, not pleasant that day:facepalm:
78 was a different scenario around 50 Brighton steaming across the car park and one battle harden wag instructing people to launch the slates first and then rocks when closer! Several hundred Oldham split and ran in all directions.

Thank god we don't have those awful scenes in the modern football world.

I said to Tony Book hands of Ward and he said what about Mellor who I must admit he did set up many of Wardy goals.
We're you on the coach.
