I know it was league 1, but all his shots are tame and strait at the keeper.
it really feels like one of the world great misteries atm.

League One, and P'boro played a gung-ho style of creating endless chances giving scores such as 5-3 wins and losses.

Championship defenders are stronger, seemingly taller, faster, more savvy, better positionally and better with the ball. Most of them have found it a doddle against lower league CMS.

L1, a supporting cast that suited him and pace. and the secret sauce of most strikers, confidence. if he could just get that one back he could probably be good for double figures a season.

Having watches CMS over the years for Peterborough and us, a lot of his success at League One level came from deliberately missing the ball, or getting a faint touch, and then running on to the loose ball having tricked the defender. At League One level, even if it worked just twice a game, that was two good chances he'd end up making for himself.

At this level, the defenders are far quicker, stronger and smarter. CMS is still trying to use the League One tricks that served him well at that level. At Championship level, though, the defenders just say 'thank you, very much' and tend to win those kinds of personal battles unchallenged. OK, CMS may get lucky once a season playing against a donkey but generally, the defenders are not going to miss the ball in these kinds of situations.

Could say the same about ballsack prior to his injury.

Is it the club who have got it wrong then? Purchased two strikers who are short and nippy and are used to playing in a two with a big man. We then play them upfront alone or stick them on the wing and wonder why they are not banging in the goals.

He also wasnt up front on his own as he is now he had support which he is sadly lacking with us.

It wasn't about needing support today though was it, it was about putting away chances.

He should have had 2 goals in the first 15 minutes.
