Sounds like the club weren't expecting it. I would imagine he's been approached by a job he prefers to the loony house that Leeds has been for a while now.

I'd guess Palace, but wouldn't rule out Watford, although they are probably more likely to go for a foreign manager, as that appears to have been their preference.

Seems a bit odd - he was doing a good job (as far as I could see) at Leeds, so it seems odd that just when Leeds' biggest problem (Cellini) is taken out of the picture, Monk ups and offs. Unless he thinks the new bloke is even worse...............................................
