I don't think your view is ridiculous, but I do disagree with it.

The Conservatives were happy enough with the 2015 election result at the time but after the referendum, as May pushed for a Brexit at the harder end of the spectrum and the Enemies of the People stopped her plans to bypass the House of Commons, it became clear to her that the majority given to her by the people was not really adequate. Encouraged by Davis, she decided not to wait for the end of the five year term. She went back to the people in the hope that they would give her the sort of majority she needed to push her agenda through. And there lies my claim of equivalence.

I agree with you that another referendum would not be popular with Brexiteers even if there was a shift in public opinion. I'd go further: it would not be popular with May and the Brexiteers especially if there was a shift in public opinion. This week's events suggest that it wouldn't be popular with Corbyn either, although there might be pressures on him from within his party if the talks faltered and the shift was pronounced. I don't know. In these febrile times, I guess no one does.

The majority in parliament to pass article 50 formally triggering Brexit was 384 after she made clear what sort of Brexit the Tories were committed to. She did not seek a mandate to reverse or undermine this situation before it was fully enacted which is your position. Obviously we have different views on eqiuvalence .

Considering 80% of the parliamentary Labour party passed a vote of no confidence in Corbyn expecting him to resign I doubt he would yield to pressure from 20%. Interesting times though.

Corbyn's rocking in where it's at in down-town St. Leonards amongst the multi-cultural festival that's going down there today, because he's a man of the people. What's doing in Tory town today dude?

No. He was keeping it real, real real, in Hastings earlier. I saw him. Awesome. He was scathing about The DUP - what they're getting when we in Hastings have the 13th most deprived ward in The UK when Northern Ireland doesn't - it's disgusting. DISGUSTING. Whenever the election comes we - Labour I guess - are ready. As he said himself " You know what.......I'm not going get personal with anyone, because I don't have the time......' We know we have in Labour to reach out and it isn't The Dailt Mail!' Masterful. Firemen turned up. THEY wanted to meet him. Some people were crying. I wasn't. I looked the Prime Minister of this country in the eye and said "Yes, you know what Jeremy we can do things differently in this country and it will be for the many not the few." And he left, not before he said 'hello' to the barking Golden Labrador and the Belgian couple said to me 'F*ck off, we've been here 24 years' when Brexit came up.
