You've got to be realistic with a cap though, surely? £40k a week is paltry in today's market. We don't have to go berserk but let's at least give ourselves a chance.

IF I am prepared to contemplate any criticism of Tony et al, it is that at least 3 players are (allegedly) contracted to be top earners now so if we bring in someone on 50K a week, we add another 30K a week on top to the salary bill. That's like bringing in someone on 80K a week.

But this, like the 'salary cap' could all just be made up bollocks.
