Did anyone else see the BBC South article on Sussex University? Extoling it's virtues and it's importance as an example of great architecture of the 60's?

Parts of it are even classified as a listed building. Can't remember who it was who designed it as my jaw was on the ground listening to what a fantastic complex it was. Same guy who built Coventry cathedral I believe.

Am I missing something here because I think the place is a red brick and concrete monstrosity :angry:

Sir Basil Spence. Opinion is divided on the buildings' aesthetic qualities. For me, they look on some days, and shite on others. In other words, I've still to make my mind up.

All I care about is their cheap booze from the student bars on match days when we get to Falmer.

Apparently somebody had a choice between building a swimming pool there and building something else with the budget.

So they built a great big concrete thing at the front of the Uni that resmbles some sort of spastic rugby post.
