Albion are hopeful their striker shortage will not be increased by an injury to Glenn Murray.

Murray limped out of the 2-0 defeat at Leicester on Saturday in the second half.

Boss Chris Hughton told The Argus: "He got a whack on the ankle - that was the early one - and then he got another one on the same spot later in the game before we took him off. We'll assess him - it doesn't look like anything dramatic."

Sam Baldock is unlikely to be available until October following summer calf surgery, which is keeping him sidelined much longer than expected.

It the risk you take though isn't it when you go into the season with two fit strikers only.

It really beggars belief. As a club we have much more money than we've ever had but I can't recall a time when we've had such a paucity of strikers, especially given the challenges we're facing. What the hell are we now going to do? The recruitment team are going to be seriously busy this week and we are likely to have to pay through the nose when it comes to signings. Not a happy position to be in.

Wish it was. He is in a boot at the moment and 2 months out.

It's not been reported anywhere and CH said he had no new injury worries at the Thursday presser. So can I ask where you've heard this. ?

EDIT: Presumably bhafc4eva is not willing to stand this up. Any further details . Rumour ? Saw him in Tescos ? What is it ?

Indeed clubs and agents are rubbing their hands together being aware of our desparate need which will significantly worse if this is true. Makes a mockery of the prices will drop or stabilise nearing the end of the window mantra previously used.

Bournemouth currently showing us what it's like to have a team that can actually score in this league.

Fair play. Looks likes he out for today at least. We'll see if hes back after the break or a longer term thing. But all signs are he hasn't travelled

Great, what a complete and utter shambles that we are going into this game with one striker that we are looking to offload. Seriously underwhelmed by the clubs striker transfer dealings.

We have one fit striker, you couldn't fecking make it up

Are you going to continue being a club apologist over this Chailey?

Lots of people rightly defend the club. Let's be frank here we started pre season with two fit strikers neither of whom can run in behind. To be 5 days from the end of the window in worse position with one now fit can only be viewed as a failure. Time is rapidly running out to correct that.

To be coming into our third game of the season without a striker on the bench is totally unacceptable IMO.

I can't wait for next week's panic buys and/or loans.
