So how many times have you already been asked by other clubs fan to get a ticket for them?

I'll start, five minutes after the fixture announcement I had a Man City fan who I hardly know tapping me up for a ticket.

They were given short shrift.

One, at 9:54am this morning. A Bristol Rovers fan who has a soft spot for Spurs.

It allowed me to respond by asking what he'd do if his "second side" have a big promotion clash that day.

Only once so far, by an Everton fan, but then he was a complete cockwomble at the end of the season because he had backed Newcastle, so if I could get a spare ticket for him he can do one.

Plus the genuine surprise that there won't be spare tickets I can get.

That's the bit that annoys me most. They all don't realise that we will sell out these games. Bloody nerve.

They were given short thrift.

short shrift
noun
rapid and unsympathetic dismissal; curt treatment.
"the judge gave short shrift to an argument based on the right to free speech"

pedant alert, pedant alert!

This was my reply, although it was a friend asking for her son...

It'll not be easy for any non season ticket holders to get hold of one next season. 23k season ticket holders, 3k go to the away club leaving 5k for general sale. However they go to priority club members leaving nothing for actual general sale. Literally the only way to get a ticket next season will be to beg, steal or borrow! The Amex is now over subscribed.

Diplomacy counts for everything
