Southend (near where I live these days) has always been a lively fixture. Down the years we've had someone trying to set fire to the away end, a massive off outside the foresters on the seafront (chair luzzing...they were the days) Brighton getting battered in the Kursaal ( by west ham fans that day) Brighton battering a firm of Southend on the seafront ( very recent) causing the Southen Echo to use the incident as a headline.."Football Hooligans on the rampage".

Anyone who doesn't think Brighton have a firm is deluded. The problem is there's two. There's the teenage wannabes who pogo about giving it the throat cut and then legging it (usually being escorted everywhere by ploddo) and the other which is made up of blokes in their late thirties and early forties who are the real deal but there's only about 15 of the blighters.

Certainly a lot more than 15  When you see them at away games you know that something has been pre-arranged

Our first coach hire from haywards heath £53 for a 53 seater:wink: A poster on here helped the crossbar snap, can recall fans rolling around the terrace with the coppers, very naughty day:moo:

Mega pitch invasion at the final whistle and no surprise the crossbar snapped with so many Albion fans hanging onto it. I was on one of the four "seagulls special" chartered trains.

Was this the time coming back from Southend mid 70s that a train with about 400-500 fans on was stopped by OB and everyone was made to get off and an ID parade with a couple of girls walking up and down with OB picking out individuals with alleged sexual stuff (I say alleged because I can't remember what happened afterwards in court)

sat in the main stand that day watching bricks coming over into the ground from the albion mob in the market outside, amazed by a the mob of 500 swarming across the terrace like a zulu army towards the southend:moo:

Me too :) I found the way out at the back of the bar (through the kitchens I think) which started it all off as the barman locked the doors .

Then we would have been running together, how spooky, I ended up in a clothing section alongside a certain long haired geezer initials JS, having a 'discussion' with some Canaries who had legged it ........... ( of course I wouldnt admit knowing you now, you bolshy lefty anti-establishment oik.... ) .....:angel:

Strange isn't it , we have had a few disagreements on here . I remember JS and I was with some blokes from Lancing as that is where I lived at the time and went in the Crabtree :) , I remember smashing into the shelves and remember the manager trying to sort out the mess , couldn't understand why he was so upset :)

Not me, but maybe a certain other Crabtree/Sompting geezer who now lives in the Channel Islands,... he used to go to England away games with a few likely lads.
