Vilas holes out off Broad... 225-7

Great day for England after losing the toss, and seeing so many SA batsmen get a start (46, 21, 40, 36, 16, 23, 26)

Close of Play, Day 1

South Africa 267-7 (89 overs, in 6 and a half hours)

Morris 26* and Rabada 20* have had a good last hour, but still England's day.

After SA won the toss and batted, to have them 7 down and at a fairly steady scoring rate is a pretty good effort.

Quite happy with that. Shame we couldn't have got maybe another 1 or 2 down in the 15 overs since the last wicket with them 7 down though.

Not going to take the gloss off a good day however. Well played boys :clap2:

Indeed, at 117-1 it could have turned very messy for England.

Although Hardus Viljoen is a 150kph speedster who has taken nearly 300 1st class wickets... could be interesting?

Morkel, Morris and Rabada are great bowlers. Viljoen will be interesting but Steyn and Philander on song..............

Bairstow again!

Rabada c Bairstow b Anderson 24

281/9

6 catches and a great take for the run out. With Bairstow's batting in the last test I'll bet Buttler is getting a bit pissed off with this :lolol:

A couple of fine shots on the drive from No.11 Morne Morkel.... Cook will be pleased to see it still looks like a decent batting wicket!

Looks a good pitch. Something in it for the bowlers and batsmen.

So, according to TMS this is some kind of record for a low score in which every player has got double figures...something like that, I wasn't paying enough attention...
