The difference between men and women on social media?

One was someone that I worked with on a project and just friended the other a friend of a friend. But you misunderstand me, I enjoyed reading them, it was fascinating and cringey and thoroughly entertaining. I haven't looked at FB for about two years now though.

I know what you mean about the fascination of reading the posts of weirdos. I used to love reading the posts of a guy I referred to as racist Paul. The one day he unfriended me.

All generalisations are bad.

Of course it would be absurd to generalise a communication style to each individual man or woman based on the high variability at the individual level. It is interesting that broad trends for these communication styles emerge when observing differences at a group level though. That's why I was careful to say women or men "more frequently" use this communication style. Of course, if there is a group-level difference in communication styles it'd likely just be another by-product of how we socialise girls and boys from an early age.

Totally different animals in this. When you see a pic of some woman that is, shall we say, less than attractive, and think yeah, pass… move on. But all the girlie friends will say shit like ‘beautiful’, ‘amazing’, ‘gorgeous’, etc., etc. Do they see something different to us? Blokes to blokes are, ugly c**t, got a face like a slapped arse, did yer mum get punched when you were born? You know the thing, why are we two such different species?

I’d love a role reversal, see women posting about their ugly friend and blokes saying how handsome their mate is. Actually, no I wouldn’t, that would just be weird.

Why do women do what they do and we do what we do?

The question here would be what constitutes beauty. You look at it through the carnal aspect of sexuality. Many others, especially women, see a bigger picture. Just because you wouldn't, to use a coarse but normalised phrase, 'smash her doors in', it doesn't make a woman, or man, any less attractive.

Think about those you know, friends or not, in loving and committed relationships. Then ask yourself how many of those women do you personally find sexually attractive. Now consider the percentage who, to you, that are not. Does this mean that somehow their partners have short changed themselves in some way ? How strange that they seem so content. Heaven forbid when age takes its toll. But wait, they are still together.

You see, the measure of beauty is not found on magazine covers, in threads on Watford's most famous supporter, or on page 3 of a scummy scrap that panders to our neanderthal instincts. It's found at the depths of a person's experience and is made good or bad through how they relate this to the world. Some women become attractive after five pints, others once they open their mouth and begin to reveal themselves.

So perhaps this talk of beauty adorns this 'ugly c**t' is speaking of something that operates at a far deeper level than the one you speak from. And thankful you should be. If women spoke about men, or you in particular, in this way I sense the words would be less inclined to pass you by.

Slightly OT but, my wife always falls for the fake news element of Facebook. She is forever telling me that 'Did you know, Donald Trump is advocating blah blah blah....'

It has become a saying in our house, 'Did you read that on Facebook?' Upon which she bashfully admits she did and I encourage her to cross-reference the 'facts' to see if there is any truth in it. I think the lack of scrutiny is odd in this instance as she is as the OP states a bit less forthright than me when judging others but yet doesn't apply that attitude when reading 'news' on Facebook.

She sounds thick to me.

Is that what I'm supposed to post or she sounds lovely if somewhat gullible

I think you're reading too much into it. Some birds are, whether you like it or not, ugly. Same as some blokes. Doesn't mean nobody will fall in love with them or find them attractive but that doesn't change the fact that they are fat and ugly.

I think it was because he didn't like it when I pointed out factual errors in his posts or posted links to Snopes debunking his fake news.

I like doing that. Hoax Slayer, and, thatsnonsense.com are good ones also.

More subtle, are the quizzes which state only a genius can get 10/10. People log in with their Facebook identity, which then gives the quiz host access to their email address, to spam them. Of course, the questions are ridiculously easy.

Came off Facebook a while back and my life has been happier since.
I found myself, almost zombie like, trolling through pages of shit I didn't care about from people I cared even less about. It was almost like smoking, a pointless habit that serves no purpose whatsoever.
I don't care about other people's kids and how many dumps they've done today, nor do I care about what you are eating throughout the day.
Not even slightly interested in how many times you've been to the gym, how fantastic you are at your job or how wonderful your 100% perfect partner is.
It's fake crap for fake people and attention seekers with low self esteem.
NSC however has no flouncers, bedwetters or "look at me" types.
