Looks like the only flights likely to be grounded at the moment are Ryan Air and Air Berlin!:cool:It's all going well,then.Wonder if May told Trudeau to expect her back soon,to sign the trade deal.Out before Christmas,if the EU negotiators carry on regardless.Then she can hop over the border and sign the USA deal,as well.Happy New Year!:clap2::clap::O

So we don't do something, even though it's the right thing to do, because the nasty Germans will give us a kicking and the French will just stand by and watch? Welcome to the world of 1940.

Air Berlin is going very well....looks like Lufthansa and Easyjet will be flying most of their routes. Absolutely perfect for me and Tegel.

Even though the UK had a big head start I'm sure Brandenburg will still be open before the Heathrow 3rd runway is :wink:

Ffs. People comparing to the nazis. That is exactly what was always going to happen.

To make it clear, I am not massively pro EU, I am anti-f*+king up this country based on flawed logic/plans. Wishing everything to be okay and saying "that is why we need to leave" does not equal policy for a successful future. Some of the right wing views on here suggest people have forgotten what the war was about.

Jackboots and just following orders... I fear you're not the only Brexiteer to see the situation through the prism of 1940.

The Leaveleaders' PR strategy was always clear... before the referendum claim that the rest of Europe will definitely fall over in the face of British demands because they need us more than we need them. After the referendum claim that the only reason they are not falling over in accordance with our instructions is because half of them have always hated the English and the other half are the children of Nazis. It would have all been sketched out in advance, to rather more effect than anything else this cabal of inadequates had planned.

And now it is happening. There are plenty of people who will buy the narrative. Just as Farage and his chums predicted.

It was always going to happen. Make ridiculous demands and then the right wing press demonises the EU for not giving into us and saying "that's why we're leaving, we were right"

They just protecting the interests of their members and why wouldn't they?

It was always a French/German stitch-up, right from the start of the common market. Why else would De Gaulle constantly veto our membership application? He wanted his farmers to grab all the CAP cash for their worthless produce and the Germans were equally happy with their own companies dominating industry. He knew that if we came in we would complain - and we did, but we could never get the rotten rules overturned. Now that we've had enough they want to give us a few more kicks before we leave - to make sure we aren't a threat to their gravy train. The whole EU is like a pyramid operation, where those first in get all the benefits and the others get a few scraps to keep them sweet. We're well out of it and we should leave without paying them a penny from March 2019 onwards.

they are not protecting the interests of their members. they are protecting political objectives.

be rational about it. consider say the air travel situation, it is claimed that if no agreement is reached, UK operators will lose thier license to fly over Europe. what affect will that have on tourism in the Mediterranean members? it may follow that European carriers would be barred from flying over UK, so all their transatlantic traffic would have to take substantial detours, adding fuel cost and time. so in reality its in the interest of both parties to sort out a sensible agreement. this sort of analysis can be applied to any policy area, they hurt us they hurt themselves. i wouldn't for a moment say "they need us more than we need them" but the fact is Europeans, not the EU politicians, would be worse off with a poor or no deal scenario, than with an amicable one.

Yes we've had a rotten 4 decades from EU membership, we need to return to the good old days.

Once we are out of the EU we will resolve a Heathrow 3rd runway type issue in days, it's been the EU that has held us back for decades from making this particular decision. And we will get it built in months, not years, and just using British labour, no Irish or European labourers here. You Germans or German lovers will be quaking in your boots as the brightest and most able British MPs like boris and David Davis take control and turbo charge our economy. We are heading for a golden age, and all on our own too
