What is the real purpose of events like this? If these wealthy men really care about these charities and wanted to donate why didn’t they just write a cheque. Or did they feel their generosity should be rewarded by the opportunity to behave as reported?

Its called tax right offs. Im sure there are loads of these events they invite each other to, make a donation(tax deductable), have a good time etc, plus a lot of corperations have these does as well.

I am merely stating that this poster's views will go to the grave with them on whatever date it might be that they pass from the world. I defend the right of said poster to have his views, even if I disagree with them most vehemently.

Why have you omitted the critical words 'in the way it thinks?' from the quote? Is it was they were not convenient for you?

As I have said, I in no way wish the passing of any poster, but I won't miss some of their views even if I defend their right to have them.

Now stop being such a 'snowflake' about it all. (ps, for the benefit of doubt, that is sarcasm).

You just don't know how to have a conversation with someone who disagrees with you without saying they talk crap (and should shut up).

What your or my opinion is, that's secondary to the fact that we should be able to express our opinions without being attacked and belittled.
