I'm surprised how many people like Doombar. It tastes like liqourice. Why do you want a beer that tastes of liquorice?

Same. Either like it or not, but some on here feel if you don't like ale, you're a freak etc
I wouldn't worry about that too much, and you are quite correct some real ale experts can be quite difficult to rub along with when talking about their specialist subject.

No there isn't, but whenever there is a debate about ales etc, there is a lot of snobbery when people prefer a pint of say, Heineken or Guinness, as it isn't 'real beer'

I admit I don't understand why people prefer, say Fosters, to a decent alternative but this is different to snobbery. Same with Guinness.

Goose Island Bourborn County Whiskey barrell aged stout
Burning Sky Arise
Hastings Porter
Beavertown Gamma Ray
Magic Rock Cannonball

This list is subject to frequent and instinctive change.

This.

Of course, Magic Rock make some excellent beers; I love their Rapture. I went to the Beavertown pub a few months back and sampled all of their core ales; it was great.

I'm going to make a journey up there at some point, they are one of my favourite breweries at the minute.

Have you sampled the Burning Sky Arise yet Herr T? For me it is the perfect hot summers day session keg-IPA. Only 4.2%, mountains of flavour. I love the stuff.

Good choice, especially when in/near Manchester.

Robinson's Best has gone off dreadfully since its glory days, even the colour has changed from when it was a pale straw coloured masterpiece.

Robbies Old Tom (8.5% Barley Wine) is still pretty wonderful, I well remember it being on draught in the winter in Cheshire Pubs and necking pints of mixed Best and Old Tom....:drink:
