One for the autograph hunters...

Funny really, first season in the Prem but I haven't heard of many big name non/ex players coming down.

I know we had the start of Motson's farewell tour but other than that, presumably it's just Fat Frank, Stevie G and Thierry in the Sky Studio? Has anyone actually seen them?

Have spotted Le Saux with NBC and Pleat, Pearce and Parlour in the commentary box but that's about it.

Big games, big names and all that!

Stevie G and Frank on the pitch before the City game, and Stuart Pearce in the media area for Palace in the cup, and that's 2 of three 3 home games I've been to, so thats my lot :lolol:

Andy Townsend was stuck up the back of the WSU doing commentry earlier in the season.

Asked him where his tactics truck was, he didnt seem amused.

This is the sort of game that tosspot Southgate would attend, would he dare?????

Just a twatish comment stuff like this .

We finally have a manager that is implementing a system for the future and picking players for this system and a few posters start trying to dig him that he is palace etc etc .

If his is to do with the dunk call up , then dunk isn’t close enough yet . Loads of us see it and that doesn’t make us tosspots etc etc .

It fits the rule to hate all things palace etc but Southgate potentially the best thing that’s happened for the club team for years to come .

Calm the bitterness . Dunk will get the call when he’s consistently the best in the land !!

Good post, totally agree. There is a fashion for moaning about the England team without having any real knowledge if it. Southgate is doing a good job in my view. I hope he gets the chance to continue it for another four years after this world cup.

Had a great day in the early 90's at the East Sussex National watching Bobby Charlton and Severiano Ballesteros playing in a pro-am event.

Two sporting icons who had charm, humility and were happy to talk to the few spectators there were.

Agreed. Find the hatred of Southgate really odd. Speaks sense from what I've seen so far and has a clear and consistent plan.

"Seve Ballesteros, the bullfighter, thats what I call him.... technically he's a professional golfer. A friend of mine said recently "what do you get if you cross a ballerina and a b*stard?" Ballesteros was his answer. I guess if you analyze it, it's that Seve combines the qualities of both those animals, he has the lithe sophistication and nimbleness of a ballerina...combined with the hard nosed, ruthless...thuggery of a b*stard."

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion but I just can’t find anything to get behind with this England set up.

Dull insipid football with not much attacking intent coupled with the Manager coming out to say he “picks on form” then doesn’t because he picked Tarkowski over Dunk [statistically speaking Dunk has been the better player - blocks, tackles, headers, accurate passes] and ignores Murray completely who on goals alone deserves to be thought of as a possible squad player.

Thing is I don’t care about Brighton players not representing because with a squad such as ours I would rather not risk losing them to injury any more than we have to but it’s the principle.

International football is too predictable, dull and frankly just an irritation throughout the season then again every two years for more disappointment in the summer.

I started off thinking that Southgate was a tick box appointment rather than a merit appointment but am very happy with him now.

He's playing youngsters, putting a plan together and is clear in what he wants on the pitch.

He was getting panned for asking Milner to reconsider his international retirement this week.

This is Milner. Consistently and reliably MoM for me for Liverpool where he is playing the best football of his life. When he was last an England pick his game was not as well developed as it is now..why wouldn't Southgate at least ask? There's no one better just now that's for damn sure.

People slagging Southgate clearly aren't watching us play.

I saw Thierry Henry and Jamie Redknapp before the Chelsea game being escorted round to the studio from the car park when I was walking round the ground.

I've seen a fair few in The West Upper before kick offs during the season as they access commentary positions from there - Andy Townsend, Iain Dowie, Davie Provan, Don Goodman, Matt Holland, Johnathan Pearce, Alan Parry, Jon Champion.........

He's already won a tournament with the U21s which is success imo. It's all too easy to write off the younger team, but many of them have gone on to play regularly in the Prem.
