I'm not sure which is more pathetic, Celtic fans thinking they have a realistic chance in the group stages; or the Rangers fans who started a petition to have them banned from getting to later stages due to the income disparity it'd create vs other SPL clubs. Don't think that was ever a concern of theirs in the 80s/90s!
Such a bizarre situation in Scotland. Celtic and Rangers are both huge clubs in some of the traditional ways you would judge it - and at the same time have less spending power than a Stoke or a Watford.
I suppose you can still be a huge club in those circumstances, but it makes it a lot harder to make the case stick.
Celtic fans would never admit it but last season was a disaster for Scottish football, and as they look likely to be in that league for the foreseeable future, long-term winning the league by 30 points won't help them or the SPL.
