That's why I put a link to the thread on Nsc because some people posted that they heard Eagles from a 'Barnsley' fan.

Is this the polite way of saying, "you're F******g nicked son if you do that again" ?

Essentially, I guess so. Presumably at the time they didn't have enough evidence to justify arresting him, so took his details. When it subsequently turned out a load of other witnesses had seen him and they got in touch, it would have been simple enough to arrange for his local force to get in contact with him, so he can be dealt with.
