Good music doesn't date. Music videos on the other hand...

Personally I found it boring, over-rated nonsense on a Faust/White Noise/Tontos Expanding Headband level.

Hot Rats was money much better spent

Believe me it does, when you get bit older you'll realise. For example, Cream sound very dated now, far too many guitar solos and so on. The Poppy sound of The Jackson Five is dated to as we now have so many different genres of what used to be Soul.

Cream sound dated! I don't like The Jackson Five, but that does not sound dated either.

If this is the case any album over 10 years old must be dated, and there goes my music collection.

For my money, a good album never dates. It just gets a new set of fans every seven years or so.

I've just listened to it again.

Believe me, the first few times its amazing but it gets repetitive and tedious after a while. However, when you consider the technology that was available when it came out (There was no such thing as a silicon chip for example) it was a remarkable achievement.
