dream result - finish them quickly, lose a few wickets today (Monty, I'm looking at YOU) tomorrow the middle order and tail show how it should be done and knock up a 150 plus lead - bowl 'em out cop full bowling and a couple of batting points, Durham get points knocked off for a shocking pitch

rest of the week is monsoon season and everyone else ends up with a draw

Afternoon old boy.

On the subject of cricket, any pigeons on the pitch? Is that a bus I see going past and Trigger, have you baked that cake yet?

one of the listeners would like to know, "what is the 'doosra' exactly?"

Put simply, the doosra is the off-spinner's version of the googly.

What is a doosra?

In Hindi and Urdu, doosra means "second" or "other".

Put simply, the it is the off-spinner's version of the googly.

Over the past five years, the world's top off-spinners have developed the doosra to baffle batsmen.

It looks very similar to a normal off-break, but rather than spin towards the bat, it goes the other way like a leg-break.

The doosra is bowled from the back of the hand with a lot of top-spin, but the wrist still moves in a clockwise direction.

It is a very difficult skill to master so you'll need plenty of practice if you want to learn how to do it.

However, its validity has been called into question because of the number of off-spinners who have been reported to the International Cricket Council for suspect actions bowling the doosra.

Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan, India's Harbhajan Singh and Pakistan's Shoaib Malik have all had to have their actions cleared by the ICC's Human Movement Specialist panel.

Sceptics claim the doosra cannot be bowled with a legitimate bowling action because it is physically impossible to do with a straight arm.

As with all spinners, variation is very important. So remember to change your flight and pace when you're bowling.

Lets keep the attacking people for having a different opinion to the football threads.

The cricket ones always seemed much more polite....
fair enough... just pisses me off when people somehow manage to be negative in the midst of such brilliant achievement by the club they are supposed to be supporting... can't we at least wait until we are batting to start slagging off our heroes?

But then Sussex have gambled this year by not replacing Ward and having a small squad, the batting does look a bit light, but we are getting away with it at present.

Monty's form is still there, he played a fine innings v Middlesex around a month ago, he just needs to apply that to more games... He will come good.

I hope he does - I'd love to see him piling on the runs. I don't get any pleasure out of seeing him fail, but he just isn't justifying his place at the moment.

you make it sound like they had a choice... the way in which they are currently getting so much out of their limited budget is staggering

everyone would love a surefire 1500 runs a season opener - but we can't have everything

we have got a very good team
