If there is a majority for Remain in a second referendum, then it is quite simply IMPOSSIBLE to argue that that is undemocratic. And if there is a majority for Leave in a second referendum, the issue is put to bed forever. Its win-win

If Remain win a second Referendum parliamentarians and a shouty public can just say “NO, don’t like that result, do it again …..lets have a third vote……this time we will call it a Pans-Peoples Referendum”. Or just ignore the result (as some MPs and some of the public think is OK in the way they want to revoke Article 50)
This is the exact sort of nonsense the 2nd referendumers have let out of pandoras box.
Please stop it now.

That was obvious.... May will win confidence vote, any Plan B will be rejected as usual, onus back on EU o iffer sone flex or a No Deal arrives on 29th March... GE spring 2020, Corbyn loses, Raab or one of the Tory women take to number 10.

Or - May wins confidence vote, Deal Plan B rejected, Second Referendum (and what side will May be on there?), Remain vote wins, May resigns, Tory party leadership election. That's my prediction.

from the day of the referendum no one was ever going to win, which ever way they voted, outs would have voted out for differing reasons. Equals split 1, 2,3 etc. remains would have voted for differing reasons. Split 5,6,7 etc.

Commons vote. Tory’s split over in and out, each for various reasons, 10,11,12 etc. Labour split over in and out, each for their own reasons, splits 15,16,17 etc. And on and on and on.

So another people’s vote by definition won’t reconcile a 100% consensus . Commons debate likewise. Twas always going to be thus and no matter what happens now or how we get there, will always be thus.

Next time people desire a referendum or not, on any matter be careful what you wish for, you may well get it. By the way I wanted a referendum, not so sure as I would be so cavalier to want one again. My views of remain or out make no difference to how I feel about that.
Agree. Which is why the original referendum should have been done (if it all) on a "more than 60/40 or stick with what you have" basis, like others. Without that you end up with everyone being pissed off, forever.

Another reason why Cameron is easily walking the Worst Of All Time poll.

Hmm - but just think what would have happened if it had been a 58/42 vote to leave. How much moaning would there have been then?

Think if it had been 50.5-49.5 in favour of remain, Farage would have had to get a room in the BBC, he would never have been off the telly.

Nah, far too much whataboutery in your position.

Leave wins, its very clear that the people want Leave. Plus, we will know what kind of Leave people want.

Remain wins, its clear the people have seen whats happened in the last 3 years and have changed their minds

Either way it will leave the country far more united than we are now

and no, won't stop. Will never stop wanting to make our country a better place

Referendums do this full stop. You only need 1 for the box to be opened. Do you think it's still closed then until a 2nd referendum, with the current mess we're in!? :lolol:

Can't be bothered to look through 250+ posts on this thread to see if it's been mentioned, but I cannot help but notice the 248 block votes of "No Support" from Labour. ???

Hmm? Surely they're voting that way on the merits of the deal and not in block for their own parties agenda to get into Government?

If there should ever be a set of MP's found contempt for derelict of duty for their own political gain rather than what's best for this Country it's them right there.

(and this is coming from someone who see's themself as more of a Labour supporter than a Tory)

Nobody gives two shits what it is called. Who cares?

A referendum is a 'people's vote', yes.

A second (better informed) vote would be another.

If you think that the population still has an appetite for leaving, now that we all know a lot more about the consequences / impacts of doing so, then why are you so terrified of the prospect?

As we do not know what it would be like once we actually leave the EU, how would it be better informed?

It would be spun as this attempt to get a deal whilst still in the EU was post Brexit, and a failure when the truth is, we no not know how it would work out with any certainty, in the same way that we would not know what would happen after an Election (Completely ignoring Brexit and talking about any potential election) will promises be kept (LD's and tuition fees), will there be a recession (Global crash of the early 2000's) and that affect the country and to what extent, etc.....)

You can put forward a vision of what you hope will happen, but to claim that by deciding to take a riskier gamble, (with a potentially better long term outcome than continuing with the status quo even if it means a short term loss) we should write it off as a complete failure before actually carrying out the activity when we are still in the same position as before (within the EU in this case)

How people can expect the outcome to be spelled out with complete certainty as they seem to demand when something is a gamble and the potential outcome is one of a multitude of outcomes just demonstrates how clueless they really are

We joined the EU for free trade, we didn't vote on political union which we got as the EU evolved over time. Now remainers what people to accept a political union purely to maintain the trading union we have now, despite the negative connotations of a political union.

The referendum vote result was that we do not want this political union with the EU - now trade deals will come later but things take time and this Brexit deal is all bout the short term and how we leave until a trade deal is sorted.

It doesn't and shouldn't stop us from forming agreements like collaborations between security forces and sharing information, as it is in the interest of both sides to partake in this. We share with places like the US without having to have a political union in place to be able to enable this to happen so why do remainers think this is impossible without remaining?

Why on Earth should labour vote for a deal which is clearly not good enough and doesn’t cover the very things they said it needed to cover before she started negotiating for them to support?

Suggest you take a look at the 119 Tory voters who didn’t support their own party leader if you want someone to be found in contempt for dereliction of duty. They ignored their party whip.
