I'm a Marketing Director and have three big problems with that ad. First, it is a ridiculously shallow and transparent attempt by a marketing team to jump on board the purpose driven ad craze for commercial gain. Secondly, execution wise its just a terribly put together advert, almost amateur. Third, it's insanely patronising to every decent man in society.

I consider myself a decent man and I don't feel particularly patronised by it.

Could be marketing genius or a Ratners moment.

Someone will either get a payrise, or be fired.

If you don't like the ad, then vote with your feet and don't buy the product. Simple really.

This is not about demonising men.

Watch the ad again. There's plenty of examples of men being great in there.

Just be one of the great men. Simple.

This.

Not sure why the broflakes feel so affronted.

I agree that the razors are excessively priced, however.

I read all the hype on here and on twitter so finally got round to watch it last night. Yes it is a crass attempt for publicity (which has worked) but it didn't bother me as much as I thought it might. As a non customer of Gillette though it did nothing to make me a customer of them.

But then I'm still boycotting Kleenex for their ridiculous dumping of Mansize tissues so perhaps I'm not the best person to be judge on this.

Agree with the comments about the probably disingenuous motives behind the ad, however if it gets people talking the motives aren’t really an issue. That aside, who gives a s**t if you feel patronised? A few good guys feeling patronised is nothing compared to making a dent in sexual assault rates. Also, no guy ever thinks they’re the sort of person will do something like that, until they do. A guy I went to school with, and was in my circle of friends, started hitting his girlfriend of the time when drunk, often when he came home from events I’d been at him with. One of the nicest guys I knew but that didn’t stop him. Was horrified to know how many of my friends simply didn’t care and continued to socialise with him and normalise the situation. Guess what? Few months later he put her in hospital.

If Gillette had run this in conjunction with giving some of their profits to a domestic abuse charity then maybe the advert wouldn’t seem so patronising. As it is they just come across as another fake, woke bunch of chancers.

any bloke who hits a woman is a ****ing disgrace , we shouldn't need adverts of any kind to realise this , the irony is that the pig shit thick woman beater would be too stupid to get the advert anyway , thus making the rest of us feel awkward , uncomfortable and guilty for not doing more ........if you want to stop wife beaters you need to lock the pricks up not give them an avo and let them out 24 hrs after the offence...!!!

Irritating, patronising and insulting to the vast majority of the male population.

Obviously not and that was not my point. Of course we need to rid society of negative male behaviours carried out by a minority of men. My point was that the media increasingly seems to demonise normal male behaviours.

No one should hit anyone. I think this is why some find the advert a little irritating, it is preaching about being a good person, do not be a dick, be nice, all great messages indeed but messages that should be directed to ALL and not just one sex.

Classic 'white lives matter' response.

Because most of us men do not need to be told what is acceptable behaviour, we should be able to work that out by ourselves (aware that some cannot seem to work this out of course).

I think that's the point of it though - there are the majority of people who know what is acceptable behaviour, there's also the ones that are nothing but galloping shitbiscuits, but there's also the middle ground of people that are inherently good, but balls up once or twice.

I'm not the biggest fan of the advert, but I'm not outraged by it in the slightest as it's good to sometimes be reminded of our responsibilities in society.

Starting to have the same problem with Montoya, Andone, Propper and Gross if they're not in their usual places on the pitch.

The speed at which the are running should help you with some of those :lolol:
