Deer good folk of NSC,

I have been tasked today to serve up baked potatoes for late lunch, how long must they go in the oven for - for a good bake (crispy on the outside fluffy in the middle)?

Thanks!

It’s more complicated than that. You need to turn the oven on at some point, then the fun starts

The most curious thing..
Build a bonfire
Build a bonfire
Put Bill Archer on the top
Put a potato in the middle....
Etc etc etc.....

Depends on how large the potatoes are but 180 for 90 minutes then poke a sharp knife in to see how they are doing. No foil required if you want crispy skins

Pierce spud with thin knife or similar tool several times going all the way through spud , microwave full power for 3 mins , turn spud over then microwave for another 3 mins , pre heat oven at 190 then pop in oven straight on to grill shelf (do not put on a tray ) for 30 minutes turning once , it's crispy and by god it's fluffy

Prick Potatoes
Microwave for 3-5 mins per potato (depending on size)
200 degrees for 1 hr (turning a couple of times during cooking) on a baking tray, brushed with a little butter, to stop them sticking

Stab them with a fork a few times. Whack in the microwave for 5 mins. With oven gloves squeeze them to check they are soft on the inside - if not put back in for 2 minutes and repeat until they are. Put on a baking tray drizzle in olive oil, turn over and drizzle again and sprinkle salt over the top. Put in the oven until the top is crispy.

Alternatively wrap in foil and cook in the microwave for 10 mins.

Scrub with a nail brush or similar. Wash. Whilst still wet rub in salt. Microwave on max power for 5mins or more if spud is a big un. Oven on 225 for at least 45mins maybe an hour again depends on size of spud. When a skewer or thin knife goes in and comes out clean potato is ready. Cut in half, scoop out potato mash up with lashings of butter and seasoning and return to the half skins. Sprinkle with cheese or baked beans. Last bit optional.

Probably need a new microwave after.

Beans and cheese? I was thinking tuna and mayo with a sprinkle of sweet corn!

Warm egg mayo with eggs laid that day is my favourite. Sprinkle of cracked black pepper and food fit for the gods.
