For those that are interested in this sort of thing ,

Brighton & Hove Albion under-18s begin their FA Youth Cup campaign against West Ham United at the Chigwell Construction Stadium tonight, kick-off 7pm.

It is the first game in the competition for both clubs, with all Premier League and Championship sides entering the competition at the third round stage.

Both teams ply their trade in the U18 Premier League South table – Albion sit tenth, while West Ham lie four places above the Seagulls in sixth.

It will be the first of two matches for Albion’s under-18s against the Hammers this month, with Mark Beard’s and Mikey Harris’s side set to visit the Little Heath Sports Centre on 15th December.

You can follow live updates from tonight’s game on the match centre at BrightonAndHoveAlbion.com, while a match report will be published after the game.

Sure we're interested, the FA Youth Cup is a 'proper' competition. Didn't 3000 turn up at Withdean for one tie?

Mind you, wouldn't surprise me if the FA have set about ruining this one too, by banning replays and even extra time.

Ryan Longman captains the side. New signing Kasper Lopata partners Haydon Roberts in the centre at the back. Peter Gwargis brings some U-23s experience to the side. U-16 Matt Everitt adds a potential goal-scoring threat to the midfield. Danny Cashman will be hoping to add to his meagre goal tally so far this season (just two goals). Albion's other forward, 1st-year scholar Ben Wilson from Northern Ireland, plays no part and has only made two sub appearances this season.

Yes Big crowds at the Withdean for Chelsea and Everton over the years there. Both great games too.

FA youth cup is a great competition, no hiding place for the youngsters as every team put their best on show, first team managers in attendance a real chance to shine.

There is still extra-time, but no replays. Albion lost on penalties to Stoke in 2016-17 and Forest in 2015-16.
