Fair enough. I don't think anyone else has been unwise enough to have employed him again.

It's amazing how some managers do keep getting employed. Mark Hughes for example...

Other opinions about Barry Glendenning are available among the football writing fraternity.

Really?! That’s disappointing. Do tell?!

I really like him on Football Weekly and his and Max’s show along with H and J and Trans Europe Express are the only shows I can listen to on talkSport.

Please don’t tell me that Marina Hyde, Barney Ronay and Jonathan Wilson are thought of in the same way to shatter my incredibly high opinion of The Guardian’s sport coverage! [emoji23]

Apologies if fixtures. Couldn't see it anywhere on The Big Board, Page 1. Just a little piece highlighting the mendacity of Mark Hughes. He'll almost certainly be getting the old heave ho shortly, which is a shame, as I'd love to see him escort them into one of the relegation berths. I won't miss his constant bloody whining if he does though. Another reason to be grateful of the calm class of Mr Hughton.

Absolutely and utterly this. Great article by Barry Glendenning. A serial whinger Mark Hughes most certainly is, both as a player and a manager. Lets just hope Hughes is left at the reins long enough for Southampton to be set adrift and end up in the Championship next season.

Barn doors in Hampshire have never had it so good, what a brilliant line!

Matthew Etherington was on 5 Live the other day sticking the boot into Hughes. He called him an arrogant manager who only worked on the attacking side of the game and never defense. Hughes is one of those managers that you wonder how he keeps getting a job - a constant on the manager merry-go-round.

Interesting, this. You could argue that if he'd not put James Ward-Prowse on Shane Duffy at that last-minute corner in September, they'd probably be 15th and not 18th in the table as things stand. Long may he reign!

That clip never gets old. Or less cringeworthy.
I was thinking more managers in work right now. Did he get another job?

I saw this in the Standard yesterday: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...mbledon-find-their-next-manager-a4002401.html

Swiftly followed by this on Sky Sports: https://www.skysports.com/football/...n-nolan-turns-down-afc-wimbledon-managers-job

To summarise for link-avoiders. AFC Wimbledon are using Pardew to help with appointment of new manager. Kevin Nolan turns down AFC Wimbledon job.

So he hasn't lost his magic...

"we are left to conclude that Southampton’s beleaguered manager isn’t even remotely interested in seeing referees make consistently correct decisions, but more keen on them making calls that consistently benefit his team."

But if we're honest, that applies to probably at least 90% of fans, too.

Except that we the fans dont get the same platform to voice that opinion

Jonathan Wilson is well liked and highly respected by everyone I know. He's a very clever guy but not someone who is up himself in any way. And we all feel sorry for him because he's a Sunderland fan. I've never heard a bad word said about Marina Hyde, and I like almost everything I've ever read by her. Barney Ronay keeps himself to himself at matches so I can't offer much of an opinion, but I know that writing something witty from a live game is one of the hardest things to do well. Danny Taylor, Jamie Jackson, Dominic Fifield, Amy Lawrence, Sachin Nakrani, Stuart James (and racing guy and Albion fan Greg Wood) are tremendous writers and very nice people. They're also happy to muck in with the less glamorous stuff, such as hanging around in the cold to get player quotes etc. Not everyone is. I'll leave it at that.

Looks good in a suit and has a serious manner about him; beyond that he’s hopeless!

Glendenning has had a vendetta against Mark Hughes for yonks now, and never misses a chance to stick the boot in. Long may it continue.

Sounds to me like professional jealousies that occur in any trade with someone who sticks his neck above the parapet to try and better themselves. However, I can see how Glendenning's chilled out cheeky Irishman vibe could rub uber professional colleagues the wrong way, but do personally enjoy much of his work and his ability to call out a **** (Mourinho, Hughes etc) when he sees one!

Three successive top ten finishes with Stoke 2014-16?
With goal differences of minus single digit number, having only scored around 45 goals all season.

Stoke's 10 years in the Premier League were woeful and emulating that is my biggest fear for the Albion.

According to that article, the referee asked for VAR after hearing protests from the Leicester players:
"Acquiescing to the howls of protest from assorted Leicester players, the referee, Roger East, signalled for VAR and after a brief consultation decided to rule out Steven Davies’s strike."

Really? That's not how it's supposed to be used, the referee isn't supposed to be able to do that.

Reading between the lines I feel that Glendenning is The Guardian’s version of Paddy McCourt.

Whilst Barton is a complete bellend, he says he is the worst manager hes every worked under
