The Rolling Stones' 'Gimme Shelter' is possibly the greatest-ever album-only track, maybe closely followed by 'Sympathy For The Devil', but both are well known.

This, however, is too often overlooked ...

England are still the only team to have won the World Cup wearing red shirts.

Yep, that's great. Not sure if it was a single, but I'm a big fan of Sweet Virginia from Exile on Main Street.

talking of XTC- oh god. how good was this...

God I miss XTC. Huge fan of their earlier work, but there are some later gems including that. Can we include this, as it was only the B-side of a single?

Co-written with Don Black. Chucked away as a bonus track on another of his critically acclaimed, but commercially disappointing albums. Less than 50 YouTube views.

      Utterly beautiful.

Gotta agree with you. Never heard this before, itís a beaut.
My choice is ĎWavesí off Sam Bakerís album Mercy.

It did have a single release in 1987 with Big Day as the B side but accept that was a B side to Grass earlier. Great track which a lot of the bible belt in America dislike intensely

It was an album track in the US (instead of 'Mermaid Smiled' on 'Skylarking')

Was going to go with 'Sacrifical Bonfire' as my contribution to the XTC love-in but decided on another favourite from Colin instead:

'Iím big and Iím loud and I never let anybody know what I'm feeling. Sometimes itís so difficultÖI..I really like you, Halo' 'I like you too, Toy. Youíre my best friend' 'Sure. Best friends. Thatís what I meant.'
'So put a church key in your pocket, we'll hop that freight train in the hall'
