Yes there was a slice of luck in the goal, but a) that is only part of the game and b) it was probably less presentable that the chance Doherty wasted for them when he side footed wide from about 8 yards.

If you're talking about the result being lucky, well it's not luck that Wolves didn't take the chances of their own, nor for that matter that we didn't make more of the chances that came our way on the break towards the end of the game.

Ultimately we have a goalscorer, they don't, and that ended up costing them. As has been said before, it's all about playing within the limits of the team.

Not sure I was referring at all to the whole result being down to luck, just the point that the ball ended up at Murray's feet!

I fail to understand why some are taking such offence at the concept that there is an element of luck in probably every game! Izzy shot last week and the ball deflected twice and went in. This week Wolves had a shot at the end through a crowd of players and didn't deflect and Ryan was able to virtually fall on it. It might have had a deflection and he still might have saved it or it might have gone wide of him and in the net. Luck goes both ways, the other side of the coin was Newcastle's equalizer in the championship.

It's not lucky that Wolves didn't cover a striker in their box. Duffy, Dunk, Bong and Bruno would never be so slack.

And that's why we won.

I suppose you're going to argue that Kayal was not lucky to get the goal against Newcastle. He just happened to identify that Izzy was going to shoot and positioned himself where he did anticipating the first deflection.

Of course there is an element of 'luck' in almost every aspect of sport, but the point is we very much make our own luck through discipline, hard graft and no little amount of skill. You can always point to moments in games where 'what if' applies, but overall against Wolves we didn't ride our luck, we played very, very well defensively and took the chance that fell to us the other end clinically. It's not like they were raining in shots that were hitting the wordwork or crosses that were bouncing off the backs of our hapless defenders heads is it? If they had I would have agreed with the aggrieved Wolves fan.
