If my maths is correct, we have already been awarded our allocation of penalties for this season. In 2017/18 there were 80 penalties (ie, four per team on average), and we've already had four (v Man U, Fulham (x2), and Soton). I wonder what that indicates? More attacking play? More gullible refs?

Also worth noting that we were actually awarded 7 pens last season (ie, almost twice the average). Palace were the penalty kings (10) - I wonder why? Burnley got none!

We're in the opposition penalty area in numbers I hope ....... on another note is it possible to bring on a sub after the award of a penalty ?

Yes it is.

Witness regularly when a keeper is sent off conceding a pen. Sub keeper comes on to face it.

There must be a role for a specialist penalty taker. There's enough subs for it not to matter. You may not do it in the first minute, but in the last twenty ?

For sure, especially very late in the game, if you had a Le Tissier, or a Lambert (or a Hemed) available on the bench. It would be putting huge pressure on that taker though, to come on specially to take a penalty with their first touch.

Well, if Knocky reads this message board it might be even more likely that one of the referees reads this message board and now I think you might have screwed us out of 6 or 7 penalties during the rest of the season.
